1. PM chaired the 52nd PRAGATI meeting
- On 24 June, PM Modi chaired the 52nd edition of PRAGATI through digital medium.
- PRAGATI stands for ‘Pro-Active Governance And Timely Implementation’.
- PRAGATI meeting is held on the fourth Wednesday of every month. It was started in 2015.
- Through PRAGATI, the Prime Minister directly monitors major projects, government schemes and public grievances.
- In this meeting, projects worth approximately 30,000 crore rupees were reviewed.
- These projects were related to roads, electricity, industrial corridors and metro rail sectors.
- The meeting reviewed the progress of the TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan (TB Free India Campaign).
- The Prime Minister directed to create a strong response mechanism against cyber fraud.
- The Prime Minister emphasized on swift action, better coordination and implementation of e-Zero FIR system.

In this meeting, the Prime Minister conducts monthly review of state government projects.
INTERNATIONAL
2. Emergency declared in Venezuela due to earthquake
- On 24 June, two earthquakes of magnitude 7.2 and 7.5 struck the South American country of Venezuela within 39 seconds.
- The epicenters of the earthquakes were in Yaracuy and Carabobo, west of the capital Caracas.
- The most affected areas include the states of Caracas, La Guaira, Miranda, Aragua, Carabobo, and Falcon.
- This is the biggest earthquake in Venezuela in the last 126 years. Earlier, an earthquake of magnitude 7.7 had occurred in 1900.
- So far, 235 deaths have occurred due to the earthquake, while more than 4300 people have been injured.
- Acting President Delcy Rodriguez has declared a national emergency.
- Metro and train services in Caracas and neighboring Miranda state have also been shut down.
- The main airport was damaged and had to be temporarily closed.

3. 14th Passport Seva Divas celebrated in the country
- The 14th Passport Seva Divas was celebrated in the country on 24th June.
- This day is celebrated every year to mark the implementation of the Passport Act, 1967 on 24th June 1967.
- This year’s theme was – Passport to Trust, Technology, and Transformation.
- On this occasion, the government reiterated its commitment to implement e-Passport technology soon.
- The Ministry of External Affairs emphasized making services more transparent and accessible for citizens under the vision ‘Secure Passport, Seamless Service, Empowered Citizens’.
- The Ministry of External Affairs also expanded services through the ‘Passport Seva Mobile App’.
5. 16th BRICS National Security Advisors Meeting Concluded
- The 16th BRICS National Security Advisors (NSA) meeting concluded on June 23.
- The meeting was chaired by India’s National Security Advisor Ajit Doval.
- Security chiefs from other BRICS member countries including China’s Wang Yi and Russia’s Sergei Shoigu participated in the meeting.
- The 16th BRICS NSA meeting was held under Russia’s chairmanship, in which India actively participated.
- The meeting was held in New Delhi on 22 June and 23, 2026.
- The theme of the meeting was ‘Non-traditional Security Challenges Facing Today’s World’.
- India emphasized the need for united action against cross-border terrorism and cyber crimes.
- Member countries discussed creating a shared framework for safe use of AI and data security.
- India advocated for strict international laws to prevent terror financing of terrorism.
- A proposal was made to create a mechanism for exchange of information among BRICS countries to deal with cyber threats.
SPORTS
6. FIFA suspends Nepal Football Association (ANFA)
- On 23 June, FIFA suspended the All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) with immediate effect.
- Due to this suspension, Nepal’s national teams will not be able to participate in any international competition.
- This suspension has been imposed due to external interference in ANFA’s governance.
- According to FIFA rules, national football associations must be free from any political or external interference.
- This suspension will continue until ANFA establishes its autonomy and compliance with FIFA rules.
- FIFA’s financial assistance for football activities in Nepal has also been suspended.

The Nepal football team will now not be able to take advantage of any training or funding from FIFA or the Asian Football Confederation.
