
The responses that former Ram Temple Trust general secretary Champat Rai reportedly submitted to the Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the Ram Temple donation theft case have surfaced. The letter, which is said to bear Champat Rai’s signature, has gone viral, although its authenticity has not been officially confirmed.
In his purported reply, Champat Rai made serious allegations against former trustee Anil Mishra. He also raised several questions over the bank’s Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), operational guidelines and security arrangements.
Key points from Champat Rai’s reported response:
Questions over the MoU: He said he was unaware of the MoU signed with the bank and that it did not bear his signature.
Allegation against Anil Mishra: He claimed the agreement with the bank was executed without his knowledge.
Letter dated 6 February 2025: He said the guideline letter did not carry his signature and that he became aware of it only on 13 June 2026.
Earlier agreements signed: He stated that all other bank agreements signed between August 2020 and June 2026 do bear his signature.
Violation of security norms: He alleged the bank failed to follow the prescribed security protocols during the cash-counting process.
No pocketless uniforms: He said the rule requiring cash-counting staff to wear pocketless clothing was not implemented.
Objection to housekeeping staff: He alleged the bank deployed housekeeping staff for cash counting, which was against the rules.
Questions over bank officials: He said either the officials were unaware of the rules or deliberately ignored them.
Incomplete security arrangements: According to him, CCTV cameras, iron doors and other security measures mandated under the MoU were never put in place.
Explanation sought from the bank: He said the bank had been asked to explain the lapses in complying with the prescribed security standards.
