Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Friday launched a sharp attack on the Samajwadi Party (SP) and the Congress while addressing a public rally in Harraiya, Basti district. He accused previous governments of appeasement politics and alleged that they had worked against the interests of Ram devotees.
‘Funds once spent on graveyards are now used for temples’
Yogi claimed that funds which were earlier spent on graveyards are now being used for the development of religious sites such as Bhadeshwar and Tapasi Dham. He also alleged that money was looted in the name of the Waqf Board under previous governments.
“The SP, BSP, and Congress displaced poor people in the name of the Waqf Board. Our government has worked to rehabilitate them,” he said.
‘Those who fired on Ram devotees should apologise’
The Chief Minister accused the Samajwadi Party of being responsible for the firing on Ram devotees and said those involved should apologise.
He further alleged that the SP government had allowed prayers to be offered on the steps of Hanumangarhi and had created the dispute surrounding the Karna Temple.
‘Temple was built peacefully, not even a mosquito died’
Referring to the construction of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, Yogi said opposition parties had earlier claimed that building the temple would lead to widespread violence.
“They used to say that rivers of blood would flow if the Ram Temple was built in Ayodhya. We had said that not even a mosquito would die,” he remarked.
Statue of Lord Ram and Nishadraj installed at Sumerpur
Yogi also highlighted the state’s development initiatives, saying the government had installed statues of Lord Ram and Nishadraj at Sumerpur and carried out beautification work at the site.
