1. PM Modi launches Seychelles development projects

  • On 29 June, PM Modi announced 19 major agreements and development projects in Seychelles.
  • These projects include launching UPI-based digital payments, a line of credit (loan) of ₹1,250 crore, and cybersecurity.
  • Additionally, these projects include enhancing cooperation in areas such as artificial intelligence, health, education, agriculture, space, and maritime security.
  • Along with this, India also handed over to Seychelles one fast patrol vessel, 10 utility vehicles, 5 boats, 6 ambulances, 500 metric tons of rice, and 8,500 metric tons of cement.
  • These agreements were made on the occasion of completing 50 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
  • Earlier, Modi participated as the chief guest in Seychelles’ 50th National Day celebrations on Sunday.
  • PM Modi is the first Indian PM to attend Seychelles’ Independence Day celebrations.

  • On 28 June, Deepti Sharma created the record for taking the most wickets in women’s international cricket.
  • Deepti now has 356 international wickets across all three formats.
  • Deepti has taken 22 wickets in Tests, 166 in ODIs and 168 in T-20 Internationals.
  • Deepti has broken Jhulan Goswami’s record of 355 wickets.
  • With this achievement, Deepti Sharma has become the bowler with the most wickets in women’s international cricket.

4. Tamil actor K. Bhagyaraj passes away

  • Tamil actor, director and screenwriter K. Bhagyaraj passed away on 28 June. He was 73 years old.
  • Krishnaswamy Bhagyaraj was considered one of the most influential filmmakers of Tamil cinema.
  • He was also called the Screenplay King for his unique screenwriting style.
  • He wrote the screenplay and story for the 1994 blockbuster film ‘Raja Babu’.
  • He started his film career as an assistant director to director Bharathiraja.

5. Union Minister Piyush Goyal reaches Greece and Britain on a visit

  • On 29 June, Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal arrived on an official visit to the United Kingdom and Greece.
  • On the first day of the visit, Piyush Goyal reached Athens, the capital of Greece, after his meetings in Britain.
  • During this visit, the delegation will also hold discussions with Indian and Greek industrialists at the Athens Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI).
  • The purpose of this visit is to further strengthen trade, investment and economic cooperation between both countries with India.
  • During the Britain visit, Piyush Goyal will also review the preparations before the India-UK Free Trade Agreement (FTA/CETA) comes into effect from 15 July.

6. New rules for National Ambulance Services (NAS) issued

  • On 29 June, Union Health Minister J.P. Nadda issued new regulations for National Ambulance Services (NAS).
  • This announcement was made at the 16th Central Council of Health and Family Welfare (CCHFW) conference.
  • Now GIS-based mapping of accident-prone areas and hospitals will be done, so that the nearest and most suitable hospital can be identified.
  • GPS tracking will be initiated in ambulances, which will enable real-time monitoring of equipped ambulances.
  • Compliance with AIS-125 (National Ambulance Code) standards set by the government has been made mandatory for all ambulances.
  • Ambulance services are being integrated with the single emergency response number 112 across the country.
  • Its objective is to improve the quality and response time of ambulance services across the country
  • According to the new rules, digital tracking and centralised call center system will be made mandatory.
  • According to the new rules, immediate access to patients can be established and response time will also be fixed.

7. Suman Roadmap 2030 launched

  • Suman Roadmap 2030 was launched on 29 June. Its main objective is to reduce Maternal Mortality Rate (MMR) and Neonatal Mortality Rate.
  • Under Roadmap 2030, free and quality healthcare services will be provided to pregnant women.
  • Special emphasis has been placed on post-delivery care and nutrition. Services will be monitored under a ‘Zero Tolerance’ policy in government hospitals.
  • This is a comprehensive plan to achieve Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) by 2030. Services will be improved through technical assistance and digital monitoring.
  • This scheme will be implemented in health centers and district hospitals across India. Its objective is to provide a safe future for every mother and child.
