An Assam Rifles jawan was killed and four others were injured in a suspected Improvised Explosive Device (IED) blast targeting a convoy in Nagaland’s Chümoukedima district on Monday.
According to the Defence Public Relations Officer (PRO) in Kohima, the explosion occurred near Shokhuvi on the Shokhuvi–Chümoukedima road, where a major Assam Rifles training centre is located.
Officials said the suspected pre-planted IED exploded as an Assam Rifles convoy was passing through the area during a routine movement. One jawan succumbed to injuries in the blast, while four others were injured.
The injured personnel were immediately evacuated and shifted to a nearby medical facility for treatment.

Search operation underway
Following the explosion, security forces cordoned off the area and launched a massive search operation in the surrounding forest to trace those responsible for the attack.
So far, no insurgent group has claimed responsibility for the blast.
