The major political and social standoff that emerged in Dholpur’s Bari area on Sunday (July 12) night after the murder of notorious dacoit Jagan Gurjar in Ajmer jail finally ended late at midnight.
After the 12th-day ritual of Jagan Gurjar, when the demands of his family were still not fulfilled even after 12 days, relatives and hundreds of villagers from the Dang region marched towards Bari and warned of a major protest.
Seeing the situation escalating, the district administration immediately stepped in. Dholpur Collector Srinidhi BT and the SP stopped the protesters at Gajpura intersection late at midnight and held talks with them. After an agreement was reached on five key demands, the administration immediately sent Bari SHO Devendra Sharma to the police lines. Following this, the villagers calmed down and returned to Bhavutipura (Jagan’s village) late at night.

On Sunday morning, Jagan Gurjar’s 12th-day ritual was held in Bhavutipura village of the Dang region. Hundreds of people who had arrived from different areas, along with members of the Gurjar community, attended a meeting during the programme.
Villagers Prahlad Khatana and Ramveer Poswal said that people were angry as no concrete action had been taken even 12 days after the murder.
In the afternoon, Bari Additional SP Shravan Kumar and SDM Amit Kumar Verma tried to convince the family members, but they remained firm on their demand that the Collector and SP should come to the spot.
By night, hundreds of people started moving towards Bari city, following which an emergency meeting was held at Gajpura intersection.

Notorious dacoit Jagan Gurjar was brutally murdered on June 29 inside Ajmer’s High Security Jail.
His family alleged that Vishnu, an accused in the widely discussed Kuldeep Jagheena murder case of Bharatpur, strangled Jagan Gurjar with a towel while they were lodged in the same barrack.
The post-mortem report revealed that Jagan’s hyoid bone was fractured due to severe pressure on his neck, causing his breathing to stop within around three minutes.
SHO removed until completion of inquiry
Dholpur District Collector Srinidhi BT said, “On the demand of villagers, the SHO has been sent to the police lines until the investigation is completed. The security arrangements and jail shifting process are also being expedited. After an agreement was reached during talks with the delegation, everyone returned peacefully.”
