
The monsoon break has pushed temperatures sharply higher across northern India, with Rajasthan, Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, Chandigarh, Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh experiencing intense heat over the past three days. Delhi recorded a maximum temperature of 38°C on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, heavy rain, floods and landslides have caused widespread damage in Arunachal Pradesh, affecting 102,917 people across four districts. The disasters have claimed seven lives and left 29 people injured so far.
In Assam, floodwaters have inundated six districts, affecting 12 revenue circles and 99 villages. A total of 37,032 people have been impacted, with Lakhimpur the worst-affected district, accounting for 35,696 of those affected.

Heavy rain expected during Jagannath Rath Yatra in Puri
The Meteorological Department on Tuesday issued a warning for heavy rains in several areas of Odisha, including Puri, during the Rath Yatra festival. This warning was issued due to a low pressure area forming in the Bay of Bengal.
A low pressure area is expected to form over the Bay of Bengal and adjoining western Bangladesh coasts over the next 24 hours. Due to this weather change, heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected in Puri from Wednesday to Friday morning.

Nadia in Bengal has been experiencing heavy rain since the afternoon, with the weather changing due to a low-pressure area in the Bay of Bengal.

The Ganges River in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, is rising. A woman who had set up shop at the confluence had to hastily remove her belongings.

The mercury once again reached 38 degrees in the capital, Delhi. The path of duty seemed a mirage. However, a late evening rain brought relief.

- There is a rain alert in Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Sikkim, Bengal, Odisha, Assam, Meghalaya, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura.
- Strong winds are likely to blow over Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana, with the weather expected to be humid and hot.
- There is an orange alert for rain in Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand, Bengal and Jammu and Kashmir.
