A war of words has erupted between BJP MP Kangana Ranaut and Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) spokesperson Saurav Das. The controversy escalated when actress and politician Kangana called Gen Z ‘Generation Gutter.’
Kangana had targeted the CJP-led movement over alleged irregularities in the NEET exam through Instagram Stories on Tuesday.
Das questions Kangana’s mental state
Reacting to Kangana’s post, Saurav Das said that her language is inappropriate. Questioning Kangana’s mental state, he accused her of trying to take advantage of the ‘CJP wave.’
Das told PTI, ‘These words don’t seem to be from a mentally stable person. If you have a Gen Z or Gen Alpha youth in your family, would you use such language for them?’
Das also takes dig at her work as MP
Saurav Das also took a jibe at Kangana’s work as an MP. He said, ‘I don’t have much to say about Kangana Ranaut, even members of her own party don’t take her seriously. There are videos from her constituency where she is telling people that you people make me work so much. I thought that after becoming an MP there wouldn’t be much work, but here I have to work every day. This is her seriousness towards her work.’
Kangana’s counterattack: ‘You are unemployed and useless’
Kangana responded through Instagram stories. She wrote, ‘I googled this person and he is 28 years old. He calls himself a student, how? I don’t know.’
On the criticism of her work as an MP, Kangana said that she may be new to politics, but has been in public life for the past 20 years.
Kangana said, ‘At his age, I had two National Awards. As a new MP, I was burdened with workload because I am also a filmmaker, artist, writer, and entrepreneur. But a completely useless and unemployed person like him will never understand what it means to be in demand all the time.’
She further said, ‘Dear Saurav, your issues are personal. You are not a student, just useless. Start learning some skill, this is a good place to begin.’
What is the ‘Generation gutter’ controversy?
This debate started a day after Kangana called young protesters ‘Generation Gutter’. She had asked, ‘Who is giving birth to them and raising them?’
Kangana had said, ‘I have never seen such ugliness in one place in my life. These reels of Gen Z protests are nauseating. The way they are talking and the kind of language they are using is very vulgar.’
The BJP MP also criticised young women participating in the protests and called their behavior ‘most horrific’. She said, ‘This is a new generation of so-called westernized Indian women. I call them Generation Gutter.’
She also stated that some women protesters are ‘so ugly and corrupt that they cannot even become homemakers.’
Kangana’s comments have been criticised by opposition leaders including Congress, the Samajwadi Party, and AIMIM, as well as social media users. They have called these comments insensitive and offensive.
Notably, the CJP-led protests ended on 25 July when the government accepted key demands of the protesters, including the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
