Two friends from Delhi brought a Kanwar made of notes to Haridwar.
In Haridwar, two Kanwariyas from Delhi have arrived to fill Ganga water, carrying a Kanwar made of currency notes. As soon as the two friends reached Har Ki Pauri with the Kanwar decorated with currency notes, a crowd gathered. Youngsters made reels with them.
Deepanshu, who brought the Kanwar, said that their Kanwar is adorned with real notes of ₹100, ₹50, ₹20, and ₹10. The total number of notes used has not been counted. He said that as many notes as became available were used to decorate the Kanwar.
Considering the rainy season, the entire Kanwar has been covered with transparent plastic film to keep the notes safe. Special care was taken in the decoration of the Kanwar to ensure that the notes remain safe along with the devotion.

1. Coming continuously for four years- Shiv devotee Deepanshu, a resident of Harsh Vihar, Delhi, has been undertaking the Kanwar Yatra for the past four years. During last year’s Haridwar trip, he resolved to do something different. Carrying a Kanwar made of currency notes was his dream.
To prepare this unique Kanwar, Deepanshu, his companion Tarun, and 7 other friends (a total of 9 people) worked together. The designing of the Kanwar, attaching the notes, and arranging them securely took a full day and a night of effort, after which this Kanwar was ready by Tuesday morning.
Real notes of ₹10, ₹20, ₹50, and ₹100 have been used in the Kanwar. The available notes were decorated as they became available, so they were not counted, and the total amount is innumerable. Considering the rainy season, to keep the notes safe, the entire Kanwar was carefully covered with transparent (waterproof) plastic sheeting, so that the notes would not get damaged if it rained on the way.
2. Ganga water filled at Har Ki Pauri- As soon as Deepanshu and Tarun arrived at Har Ki Pauri with this unique Kanwar adorned with notes, a crowd of devotees and tourists gathered to see it. Youngsters and travellers enthusiastically took photos, made reels with this Kanwar covered in colourful real notes, and kept trying to find out the total amount of money used in it.
3. Ganga Jal Worship and Foot Journey to Delhi – On Tuesday, Ganga Jal was filled with proper rituals from Har Ki Pauri. After filling the Ganga Jal, Deepanshu and his three companions departed for Delhi (Harsh Vihar).
This is a shoulder Kanwar, which Deepanshu himself will carry alone on his shoulder throughout the entire journey.
4. Use of notes and future wish – Deepanshu and Tarun clarified that the purpose of this Kanwar is not to make any kind of display. After the journey is complete, upon reaching the Shiva temple, all the notes will be removed from the Kanwar and donated to the temple, which will be used for a community feast (bhandara) or to help the needy.
Deepanshu stated that this time he has made a special wish to Bholenath. If his wish is fulfilled, he will come to Haridwar next year with an even bigger Kanwar adorned with more notes.
