Trinamool Congress National General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee, who has approached the Calcutta High Court seeking permission to travel abroad for advanced eye treatment, received a significant direction from the court during the hearing on Wednesday.
The High Court directed Banerjee to appear at SSKM Hospital in Kolkata on Thursday for a comprehensive medical examination.
Specialists to evaluate eye condition thoroughly
A special medical board comprising ophthalmology specialists at SSKM Hospital has been asked to examine his condition and assess whether the required advanced treatment can be provided in India.
The medical board has been directed to submit a detailed report directly to the High Court, clearly stating the current status of Banerjee’s eye condition and whether appropriate treatment is available within the country.
The court said it will take a final decision on Banerjee’s plea to travel abroad for treatment only after reviewing the medical board’s findings.
