- NEET UG Counselling Starts | MBBS, BDS Admissions; Academic Session 2026

The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has started the NEET-UG 2026 counselling process today, 4 August 2026.
It is for MBBS, BDS and BSc Nursing admissions under the All India Quota, deemed universities and central institutions.
The academic session for 2026-27 will begin on 8 September.
Important dates
- Counselling process begins: 4 August
- Round 1 registration starts: 5 August
- Round 1 ends: 17 August
- Last date to join allotted college: 22 August
- Academic session starts: 8 September
Who can participate
Students who qualified NEET-UG 2026 can take part in the counselling. The process covers:
- 15% All India Quota seats in government medical and dental colleges
- AIIMS
- JIPMER
- Central universities
- Deemed universities
State quota counselling will be conducted separately by each state.
How the process works
Candidates must register on the official MCC portal. They then need to:
- Pay the counselling fee
- Fill college choices
- Lock their choices
- Wait for seat allotment
Seats will be allotted based on NEET rank, category and seat availability.
New changes this year
MCC has introduced a few student-friendly changes.
- Seat upgradation can be processed online.
- Students will not need repeated visits to colleges.
- Seat resignation can be submitted through the MCC portal.
- NRI quota documents can be uploaded digitally.
The government says these changes will reduce travel and paperwork.
Documents to keep ready
Students should keep these documents ready before registration:
- NEET scorecard
- NEET admit card
- Class 10 certificate
- Class 12 certificate
- Identity proof
- Category certificate, if applicable
- Other required documents
What students should remember
- Read the MCC information bulletin carefully.
- Complete registration and choice filling within the deadline.
- Missing a deadline may lead to exclusion from that counselling round.
