A couple was found dead inside their residence in AE Block, Salt Lake, on Thursday, prompting an investigation by the Bidhannagar North Police. The deceased have been identified as Sajal Kumar Kundu and Ranjana Kundu. According to police sources, the bodies were found lying on a bed inside a locked room.
Police recover suspected poison bottle indoors
Family members became concerned after repeated phone calls went unanswered on Thursday morning. A relative asked a neighbour to check on the couple. When there was no response despite ringing the doorbell, the house was opened, revealing the couple dead inside. Police were immediately informed.
Cancer illness angle under police scrutiny
Preliminary investigation suggests that the couple may have died by consuming poison, as investigators recovered a bottle of suspected poison from the house.
According to residents, Ranjana Kundu had been battling cancer for a long time. Police are also examining whether financial distress or any other personal issues may have contributed to the incident.
The bodies have been sent for post-mortem examination, and further investigation is underway to determine the exact cause of death.
