The Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) is set to hold its “Chalo Sansad” march from Jantar Mantar to Parliament on Monday. Supporters gathered at the protest site throughout Sunday night, and at around 5am on Monday, a large crowd arrived and breached three layers of police barricades.

The party has announced that the march will begin at 9am from Jantar Mantar. However, Delhi Police said they had neither received an application for the demonstration nor granted permission for it. Restrictions under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) remain in force across the New Delhi district.

Meanwhile, activist Sonam Wangchuk, who has been on a hunger strike for the past 22 days, remains admitted to Safdarjung Hospital, making his participation in the march uncertain. His wife, Dr Gitanjali J. Angmo, has confirmed that she will join the protest and outlined two conditions on Sunday.

Angmo said Wangchuk would end his fast only if political leaders visit him in hospital and publicly commit to raising the issues of accountability and education reform during the monsoon session of Parliament. Failing that, she said, he would continue his hunger strike despite being hospitalised.
