The Supreme Court has directed that a parcel of land adjacent to the disputed Dhar Bhojshala/Kamal Maula complex be allocated to members of the Muslim community for offering Friday Namaz. The land identified by the Court is Khasra No. 596, described as Dargah land adjoining the disputed site.
A Bench headed by Chief Justice of India Surya Kant instructed the Madhya Pradesh government to make the necessary arrangements in compliance with its order.
Clarifying its July 14, 2026 order, the Court said: “The Muslim community be permitted to offer Namaz on Friday from 1 pm to 3 pm at the land Khasra No. 596, which is stated to be Dargah land.” The Bench further directed the State to “make necessary arrangements.”
The order came on an application filed by the Muslim side seeking allocation of an adjacent space for offering prayers. The plea stated that, under the current interim arrangement, devotees are required to offer Friday Namaz at a site located around one kilometre away from the disputed religious complex.
In its order passed today, the Court noted that the site plan placed before it showed the land has an independent and separate access road and, “therefore the said site appears to be suitable. It is adjacent to the subject premises.”
Activity intensified after July 14 order
During the hearing on July 14, the Supreme Court directed the state government to ensure appropriate arrangements for the Muslim community.
Following the order, the district administration became active and held discussions with representatives of the Muslim community regarding possible arrangements. The administration had proposed the Chalis Peer Dargah in Maliwada as a venue for Friday prayers. Officials argued that security and other necessary facilities could be provided there.
However, representatives of the Muslim community did not agree to the proposal. They said the arrangement did not comply with the spirit of the Supreme Court’s directions. The community subsequently decided to raise its objections before the Supreme Court again. This is a developing story….
