The CBI filed a chargesheet against 13 accused in the NEET UG paper leak case on Tuesday in the Rouse Avenue Court in Delhi. This chargesheet has been filed by the CBI’s Economic Offences Wing. It will be considered on Wednesday in the special fast-track court constituted for hearing the case.

The CBI has registered a case in this matter under sections 315(5), 318(4), 61(2), 238, and 303(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) 2023 and sections 13(1)(a) read with 13(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act. Additionally, sections 3, 4, 5, and 11 read with section 10 of the Public Examination (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 2024, have also been invoked.

13 accused are in judicial custody

All 13 people who have been made accused in the chargesheet are currently in judicial custody. These include Yash Yadav, Mangilal Biwal, Dinesh Biwal, Vikas Biwal, Shubham Khairnar, Dhananjay Lokhande, Prahlad Kulkarni, Tejas Harshad Kumar, Dr. Manoj Shirure, Shivraj Raghunath Motegaonkar, Manisha Waghmare, Manisha Mandhare and Manisha Sanjay Hawaldar.

Investigation into the role of NTA officials continues

The CBI has said that further investigation in the case is ongoing and the role of NTA officials is also being examined. Recently, 47 NTA officials have been suspended. An FIR in this case was registered on May 12 based on a complaint by a government official.

Paper was sold for 10 lakhs

CBI alleges that Mangilal Biwal contacted Shubham Khairnar to obtain the NEET question paper for his son Vikas Biwal. Question papers have been recovered from Mangilal’s mobile phone. According to the investigating agency, Mangilal purchased the paper from Yash Yadav for 10 lakh rupees. During interrogation, Vikas Biwal revealed that he came in contact with Yash Yadav during coaching in Sikar, Rajasthan.

This is how the entire network operated

The allegation is that Shubham first leaked the paper to Yash, then Yash to Mangilal, after which this paper reached Vikas and Dinesh Biwal. After this, a large chain was formed. It is also alleged that Mangilal further sold the paper to other candidates for 12 lakh rupees.

The court had granted accused Yash Yadav permission to appear in the NEET UG examination on June 21 and to attend his sister’s wedding on June 22 while in judicial custody.
