Savarkar’s grandson Satyaki said that Nehru was against Subhash Chandra Bose.
Satyaki, the great-grandson of freedom fighter Vinayak Damodar Savarkar, gave a statement on Tuesday in the special court in Pune in the ongoing defamation case against Rahul Gandhi. He claimed that the country’s first Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru, was against Subhas Chandra Bose and had adopted pro-British policies.
Advocate Milind Pawar represented Rahul Gandhi. During cross-examination, Satyaki said, Savarkar’s property was confiscated and his barrister’s degree was revoked.
Satyaki’s claim – Nehru was against Bose
Satyaki claimed in court that Nehru had said he would fight Subhas Chandra Bose and his party as well. This proves Nehru’s opposition to Bose. I have taken these facts from ‘Selected Works of Jawaharlal Nehru’. He also said that leaders like Madam Cama, Bhagat Singh, and Sharad Pawar had praised Savarkar.
Know, what is the Savarkar defamation case
Satyaki had filed a defamation complaint against Rahul Gandhi regarding a speech given in London in March 2023. Rahul was accused of making objectionable remarks about Savarkar.
Pune Police, in its report on May 27, 2024, stated that Rahul Gandhi had defamed Savarkar. Rahul Gandhi pleaded not guilty in the case.
Said in London – Savarkar had beaten a Muslim
Rahul is accused of claiming in a speech in London in March 2023, citing Savarkar’s book, that Savarkar and his 5-6 friends once beat up a Muslim man and were happy about it.
Citing the same speech, Satyaki filed a defamation case against Rahul Gandhi. Satyaki said that no such incident occurred, nor did Savarkar write anything like that.
