Both Houses of the Parliament have been adjourned for the day and will resume on Wednesday. The Ram Mandir donation theft case remained a major discussion during the Parliamentary proceedings on the 12th day. The government and the Opposition clashed over the matter several times.
In the Rajya Sabha, Leader of the Opposition Mallikarjun Kharge and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju engaged in a heated exchange.
Kharge said serious allegations of embezzlement involving cash, jewellery and land had surfaced against the Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust. He noted that the trust was constituted by the Central government, was allotted more than 70 acres of land, and that the government had been associated with every major event related to the Ram Mandir.
Kharge also questioned where the ED, CBI and other central investigating agencies were now, and said the government should answer the issue in Parliament.
Responding to him, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju hit back, saying the Congress and the Samajwadi Party had opposed Lord Ram and the Ram Mandir for years.
He alleged that they had worn black bands to protest when the temple was built. “The same people cannot now shed crocodile tears and mislead the country. First apologise to the nation for insulting Lord Ram, and only then ask the government for answers,” he said.
MPs from the Congress, Samajwadi Party (SP), Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and other Opposition parties staged a protest against the government over the Ram Mandir donation theft.
Meanwhile, DMK MPs from Tamil Nadu protested at Parliament’s Makar Dwar over the Cauvery water dispute.

The Registration of Births and Deaths (Amendment) Bill, 2026, is a proposed law to amend India’s Registration of Births and Deaths Act, 1969.
The main focus is on delayed registration of births and deaths. Under the proposed changes, if a birth or death is reported more than two years after it occurred, registration would require approval from a First-Class Judicial Magistrate, making the process stricter.
While addressing the Rajya Sabha, the MoS for Home Affairs, Nityanand Rai, spoke about the Births and Deaths (Amendment) Bill, 2026.
In his address Rai said, “The proposed legislation seeks to make delayed registration of births and deaths more stringent by requiring an order from a judicial magistrate (first class) for registrations done after two years.
The Bill, which was cleared for introduction by the Union Cabinet on July 20, seeks to further amend Section 13(3) of the Registration of Births and Deaths Act, 1969 (as amended in 2023), “in order to make provisions of delayed registration more stringent”.

The Bill, which has already been passed by the Lok Sabha, proposes stricter rules for delayed registration of births and deaths by requiring an order from a Judicial Magistrate First Class for registrations sought more than two years after the event.
The Lok Sabha on Tuesday passed the Appropriation (No. 3) Bill, 2026 by a voice vote despite protests by Opposition members, allowing the government to authorise expenditure from the Consolidated Fund of India.
The Lok Sabha was adjourned till Wednesday after proceedings lasted only 15 minutes following the House’s reconvening at 2 pm.
