Rahul wrote a letter and asked two questions to Home Minister Amit Shah. - Bhaskar English

Rahul wrote a letter and asked two questions to Home Minister Amit Shah.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi wrote to Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday, alleging that during the CJP’s Parliament march on 20 July, police deliberately targeted protesters’ private parts and fired pellet guns. He claimed that 19-year-old Sahil Lochab lost his eyesight in the incident.

Rahul asked Amit Shah whether he had authorised the police action on 20 July and whether the people beating protesters in plain clothes were police personnel or volunteers.

The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) ended its protest at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar after Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan resigned on Saturday.

Following the resignation, CJP spokespersons Saurabh Das and Ashutosh Ranka met JP Nadda and submitted five demands for education reforms.

The demands included a 10-year jail term for those involved in paper leaks, confiscation of their property, the formation of a new National Testing Commission, and independence in appointments.

Rahul shows injuries of student hit by pellet gun

On Friday, Rahul Gandhi held a press conference at his residence, 10 Janpath, with a student who was injured during the protest.

Rahul lifted the student’s T-shirt and showed injuries on his hand, back and chest. He said, “Dharmendra Pradhan is a criminal education minister.

He is a symbol of the collapse of our education system. He must go. Thousands of people are on the streets because of him.”

He added, “My brother standing here was injured by a pellet gun while peacefully protesting with the tricolour.”

Police detained Rahul during protest

The Congress held a protest near Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s official residence at 7, Lok Kalyan Marg at 3:30 pm on 21 July.

The protest was attended by Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi, Mallikarjun Kharge and Akhilesh Yadav, among other leaders.

Rahul demanded the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over the NEET paper leak case and called for a discussion on the issue in Parliament. Protesters also raised slogans demanding the Prime Minister’s resignation.

It was the first time that a Leader of the Opposition had staged a protest near the Prime Minister’s residence. According to the report, Congress kept the plan secret, with MPs and leaders being invited on the pretext of Mallikarjun Kharge’s birthday.

To handle the situation, Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office Jitendra Singh was sent to the protest site, where he spoke with Rahul Gandhi. The Union Minister said Rahul had earlier demanded a discussion in Parliament on the NEET paper leak and the related protests.

Rahul says there have been 152 paper leaks in 10 years

On 22 July, Rahul Gandhi held a 40-minute press conference at Indira Bhawan in Delhi on the alleged police lathi-charge against students.

He began by showing videos of students who took part in the Cockroach Janata Party’s ‘Sansad Chalo March’ on 20 July.

Rahul alleged that security forces had brutally beaten the students and questioned why such action was taken.

He said the NEET paper leak had affected 7.5 crore students and their families across the country and claimed that no one had been punished in the case.
