Twisha Sharma’s death occurred on 12 May under suspicious circumstances.
A major scientific aspect has emerged in the investigation into the death of actress Twisha Sharma in Bhopal. According to sources, a five-member medical board from AIIMS Delhi has submitted its final forensic report to the CBI. The report reportedly confirms the presence of skin tissue on the gym belt allegedly used for hanging.
Histopathological and lab examinations also found that the marks on the belt and the ligature marks found on Twisha’s neck matched each other. This report has been prepared based on the second post-mortem conducted on the orders of the Madhya Pradesh High Court.
It is worth noting that Twisha died under suspicious circumstances at her in-laws’ house in Katara Hills on the night of May 12. Her in-laws are calling it a suicide, while her parents have accused her husband and in-laws of murder.
11-page report submitted in a sealed envelope
It has been reported that the 11-page report was submitted to the CBI in a sealed envelope on July 10. A compliance report has also been sent to the Registrar General of the High Court. The AIIMS board conducted a second post-mortem on 24 May and also inspected the crime scene. The medical board prepared its opinion after studying scientific tests, lab analysis, and national-international forensic literature for about a month.
Dr. Sudhir Gupta, Head of the Department of Forensic Medicine at AIIMS Delhi, refused to comment on the contents of the report but said that the medical board had scientifically evaluated all possible aspects and prepared clear conclusions. Due to court directives, the report has not been made public.

Retired Judge Giribala Singh’s house is in the Katara Hills area of Bhopal.
High Court had ordered a second post-mortem
Twisha Sharma was found hanging at her in-laws’ house in Bhopal on 12 May. After questions were raised about the initial post-mortem and investigation, her family filed a petition in the High Court. Following this, the Court ordered a second post-mortem by AIIMS Delhi and later handed over the investigation of the case to the CBI. It is now believed that AIIMS’ final forensic report will be included as important scientific evidence in the CBI’s investigation.
Key points of the report
- Confirmation of skin tissue found on the gym belt.
- Scientific similarity found between the belt and neck injury marks.
- Conclusion prepared based on lab and histopathological examination.
- The 11-page report was submitted to the CBI on July 10.
- Compliance report also sent to the Registrar General of the High Court.
Why a second post-mortem was necessary
During the first post-mortem, the belt allegedly used in the hanging was not presented before the medical board. Due to this, several questions regarding the cause of death and the ligature material remained unanswered. The High Court, considering these circumstances, had ordered a second post-mortem by an expert medical board from AIIMS Delhi. Now, the final report of that investigation has been submitted to the CBI.
