
The Uttar Pradesh government has announced recruitment for around 81,000 vacancies in the Police Department for the 2026-27 recruitment cycle.
The hiring process will be conducted in phases, with the Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment and Promotion Board (UPPRPB) expected to release separate notifications for different posts.
The recruitment drive is aimed at creating employment opportunities for thousands of young candidates while strengthening the state’s police force. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said the process would be carried out in a fair, transparent and smooth manner.
The vacancies are expected to include posts such as Constable, Sub-Inspector (SI), Jail Warder, Radio Cadre, Computer Operator, Clerk and other technical and ministerial positions. The exact number of vacancies for each post will be announced through official notifications.
The state government said the large-scale recruitment is part of efforts to modernise the Uttar Pradesh Police and improve law and order by increasing manpower.
Selection process
- Candidates applying for the posts will have to clear multiple stages of selection.
- The first stage will be a Computer-Based Test (CBT) with objective-type questions. The exam is expected to cover subjects including General Knowledge, General Hindi, Reasoning, Mental Ability, Numerical Ability and Current Affairs.
- Candidates applying for Sub-Inspector posts will also be required to answer questions related to Law and the Constitution.
- Those who qualify in the written examination will move to the Physical Standard Test (PST), where their height, chest measurements (where applicable) and other physical requirements will be checked.
- Candidates clearing the PST will then appear for the Physical Efficiency Test (PET), which will assess their fitness through running and other activities.
- The final stages will include document verification and a medical examination before appointment.
How to apply
- The application process will begin after UPPRPB releases the official notifications.
- Candidates will be able to apply online through the UPPRPB website. They will need to register using their mobile number and email ID, fill in personal and educational details, upload required documents, photographs and signatures, and pay the application fee if applicable.
- The board has not yet announced the application dates. Candidates are advised to check the official notification for details regarding eligibility, age limit, fees and deadlines before applying.
