Amidst the uproar over paper leaks across the country, question papers for two semester examinations of Uttarakhand Technical University (UTU), one of Uttarakhand’s largest universities, were leaked even before the exams.
Here, professors associated with the university’s colleges were distributing papers on WhatsApp. After the allegations were found to be true in the investigation, the university has canceled both examinations. This decision will require thousands of students from 12 engineering colleges in the state to retake the exams.
The university’s investigation revealed that Dr. Ashish Kumar Gupta, Assistant Professor at Shivalik College of Engineering, Dehradun, allegedly shared the question papers on students’ WhatsApp groups and an online portal.
As soon as the matter came to light, a high-level inquiry committee was constituted on the instructions of the Vice-Chancellor. In the preliminary investigation by the Veer Madho Singh Bhandari Uttarakhand Technical University (UTU) committee and the college’s internal inquiry, the allegations were found to be prima facie true.
