A landslide struck near Kadu Nala on the Udaipur–Killar road in Himachal Pradesh’s Lahaul and Spiti district on Friday, burying a Tata Sumo taxi. Fifteen people were travelling in the vehicle, and 13 of them were killed.
Meanwhile, several districts in Gujarat are battling severe floods after heavy rain. Valsad’s Umargam taluka received 43 inches of rainfall in 16 hours, inundating low-lying areas. A heavy rain alert has been issued for 11 districts. People stranded in flood-hit Navsari were airlifted by helicopter. Waterlogging has been reported in Ahmedabad and Surat, while markets in Vav and Tharad were submerged.
In Uttar Pradesh, continuous rainfall over the past 10 days has caused 10 rivers, including the Ganga and Yamuna, to swell. In Sitapur, roads have gone underwater, forcing villagers to use boats for transportation.
In Bihar, a heavy rain alert has been issued for 19 districts, including Patna, Bhojpur, Buxar, Gopalganj, Saran, Vaishali and Siwan.
Rajasthan has also issued a heavy rain alert for 11 districts, including Banswara and Dungarpur.

Rain, lightning claim lives in Madhya Pradesh
Several parts of Madhya Pradesh have been receiving intermittent light to heavy rain over the past 24 hours. Two people were killed after being struck by lightning in Vijaypura village of Shivpuri district on Thursday.

Persistent rainfall over the past 10 days has caused 10 rivers, including the Ganga and Yamuna, to swell in Uttar Pradesh. Light rain is expected in 54 districts on Friday.
Rain alerts across several states
The IMD has issued a rain alert for the entire state of Rajasthan for the next two days. In Bihar, weather conditions have changed, with an orange alert for heavy rain issued for nine districts.

No rain warning has been issued for Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand and Odisha.
Thunderstorms with lightning are likely in Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Vidarbha and Karnataka.
Strong winds are expected over Karnataka, Telangana and Coastal Andhra Pradesh.
