
RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav’s health deteriorated on Friday, prompting his admission to the Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (IGIMS) in Patna. He was accompanied by his wife Rabri Devi, daughter Misa Bharti and elder son Tej Pratap Yadav.
At the hospital, Lalu underwent an eye examination by Dr Vibhuti Prasanna Sinha, Head of the Ophthalmology Department, followed by an ECG. He was kept under observation for two hours.
Speaking to reporters, Misa Bharti said Lalu’s condition was stable and that he is scheduled to travel to AIIMS Delhi on Saturday, where he has been undergoing treatment.
According to media reports, Lalu was taken to IGIMS after experiencing dizziness. A team of doctors examined him, and further details about his condition are expected following a complete medical evaluation.

Went to Singapore for routine checkup in May
It is worth noting that Lalu Yadav had gone to Singapore 2 months ago for a post-transplant routine medical checkup. He had received permission for foreign travel from a Delhi court.
Tejashwi Yadav had stated that after the kidney transplant, doctors had advised him to undergo routine check-ups every three months, but regular check-ups had not been possible for about a year. He also had an eye operation and continued to suffer from eye-related problems.

Lalu reached Singapore on May 30, where his daughter Rohini came to receive him at the airport.
Eye operation performed in Delhi 7 months ago
During an eye examination in December 2025, doctors found cataracts and retina-related problems in his eyes. Subsequently, his cataract and retina surgery was performed under the supervision of senior ophthalmologists at a private eye hospital in Delhi.
According to doctors, the operation was completely successful and his condition remained normal after the surgery. He was advised to rest for some time and have regular follow-ups.

Lalu attended RJD’s foundation day program on July 1
On July 1, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) celebrated its 30th foundation day. Lalu Yadav started the program at the party office in Patna. He said, ‘We have fought and will continue to fight.’
In this program, Lalu was seen having a little trouble getting up, sitting and walking, but his health was fine. After this, Lalu was also seen roaming on the streets of Patna in a car.
