The protest against irregularities in the JPSC and other recruitment examinations in Jharkhand has intensified after continuing for 12 days at Jaipal Singh Stadium. More than seven protesters are on a hunger strike. Among them, student leader Devendra Nath Mahto has been on a complete fast without food or water since August 2.

In the case, the CID has arrested five more people. With these arrests, the total number of accused taken into custody has risen to 19. The Special Investigation Team (SIT) is probing the case, and scrutiny of digital records and other documents is underway.

Meanwhile, the protesting students have received an offer for talks from Chief Minister Hemant Soren. The government has formed a four-member committee of ministers to hold discussions with the students. However, the students refused to hold closed-door talks, insisting that the discussion should take place on a public platform in the presence of students and that Chief Minister Soren should personally lead the talks.

Government forms four-member ministerial panel for talks

Earlier, the Chief Minister constituted a four-member ministerial committee to engage with the protesting students. The panel includes Higher Education Minister Sudivya Kumar Sonu, Rural Development Minister Deepika Pandey Singh, Welfare Minister Chamra Linda, and Industries Minister Sanjay Prasad Yadav.

Chief Minister Hemant Soren held a meeting with these ministers at his residence on Wednesday afternoon to discuss the proposed talks with the students. Following the meeting, student leaders were invited for discussions. However, no agreement could be reached on the terms of the dialogue.
