Nagpur: Dr. Chandan Kumar Chanchal, an academic leader, entrepreneur and social-service professional from Nagpur, has been nominated for the India Republic Times – Leadership Conclave Mumbai 2026’s Bharat Shreshtha Ratna Sanman (BSRS). The recognition acknowledges his contribution to education, academic leadership, management, entrepreneurship and initiatives aimed at supporting underprivileged communities.
With more than 15 years of experience in teaching, research and academic leadership, Dr. Chanchal has developed a professional journey that extends beyond the classroom. He currently serves as the Director of Orange City Institute of Management (OCIM), Nagpur, where his responsibilities involve institutional development, academic planning and management education.
Before taking on his current role, he served as Dean at Govindrao Wanjari College of Engineering and Technology. His academic experience includes work in Management, Finance and Human Resource Management, giving him exposure to both academic administration and the practical aspects of professional education.
Dr. Chanchal’s educational journey has also been diverse. Beginning with technical education in Information Technology, he pursued an M.Sc. in Physics and an MBA in Finance and Human Resource Management, along with further academic qualifications. This combination of technical, academic and management knowledge has shaped his approach to education and institutional leadership.
Research has remained another important part of his professional journey. He has published eight research papers in national and international journals, with areas of interest including financial literacy, management and education. His work reflects an interest in connecting academic knowledge with practical issues affecting students, professionals and society.
A significant part of Dr. Chanchal’s journey has been his involvement in social initiatives. For more than 11 years, he has contributed to efforts supporting Scheduled Tribe children through education and career guidance. His social work has also extended towards initiatives supporting underprivileged and specially-abled people, as well as the welfare of elderly communities.
Alongside academics and social service, Dr. Chanchal has explored entrepreneurship and business development. His professional associations include Mira Foundation, where he serves as President, Mira Group of Companies and Aqua Discovery, where he has been associated with business and service initiatives. His experience across education, construction, manufacturing and professional services has given him a broader understanding of business operations and organisational development.
His contribution has also received recognition. In 2023, he was honoured with the Best Voice of Mukesh Award in the Vidarbha Region. However, his professional journey has largely been defined by continued work in education, student development, institutional administration and social initiatives.
For Dr. Chanchal, education is closely connected with responsibility. His philosophy reflects the belief that knowledge should not remain limited to academic achievement but should become a means of creating positive change. His work with students and communities demonstrates this approach, particularly through his long-term involvement in education and career guidance.
He also credits his family and elders for playing an important role in his journey. The support of his parents, younger brother and wife, Mrs. Mamta Pathak, has remained a source of strength as he balanced academic responsibilities, entrepreneurship and social commitments.
The Bharat Shreshtha Ratna Sanman 2026 nomination recognises this wider journey — from academic and institutional leadership to entrepreneurship and social responsibility. It places focus not only on professional positions and qualifications but also on the contribution made through education and community-oriented work.
As Dr. Chanchal continues his work in higher education, management and social initiatives, his journey reflects a simple principle: professional success becomes more meaningful when knowledge and opportunity are used to create possibilities for others.
The India Republic Times – Leadership Conclave Mumbai 2026’s Bharat Shreshtha Ratna Sanman recognises Dr. Chandan Kumar Chanchal for his contribution to academic leadership, education and social impact, while acknowledging his continued efforts towards institutional growth and community development.
