On July 20, during the Parliament march, Police-Rapid Action Force conducted lathi-charge, fired tear gas shells, stone pelting also occurred.

Delhi Police has intensified its action in the case related to attacks on police personnel and vandalism during the Cockroach Janta Party’s “Parliament Chalo” march in Delhi on 20 July.

On Monday, Delhi Police claimed that it identified 2,873 people using CCTV footage recorded between July 20 and 25. Of these, 989 were found to have criminal records. Their identities were established through the Facial Recognition System (FRS) and other technical tools.

Police said those identified include accused in serious cases such as murder, sexual offences, POCSO violations, robbery, and other major crimes. According to the police, some individuals repeatedly visited the protest site despite already facing serious criminal charges.

Cases registered against the accused in different offences

Among those identified, 101 have cases related to murder, 62 to attempted murder, 284 to robbery and dacoity, 61 to rape, six under the POCSO Act, 25 for crimes against women, 229 under the Arms Act, 135 for snatching, 19 for kidnapping, and 67 under the NDPS Act. According to Delhi Police, a large number of those identified are repeat offenders.

118 police personnel injured on 20 July

According to Delhi Police, more than 118 police personnel were injured in the clashes on 20 July. Those injured included the Special Commissioner, Joint Commissioner, Additional Commissioner, DCP, Additional DCP, and ACP-rank officers, along with several women police personnel. Around 60 protesters were also reported injured in the incident.

Delhi Police acts over objectionable posts targeting PM

Earlier, Delhi Police issued notices to several social media platforms, directing them to remove posts and videos containing objectionable and abusive remarks against the Prime Minister that were shared during the Jantar Mantar student protest and the 20 July “Parliament Chalo” march.

According to Delhi Police, several objectionable posts targeting the Prime Minister surfaced on various social media platforms during the protest and the violence that followed.
