
Solar Defence & Aerospace Limited (SDAL) successfully carried out a live trial of its indigenous counter-drone system, Bhargavastra, in Nagpur in the presence of the Indian Army.
The company said the system has been developed to tackle growing threats such as drone attacks and drone swarms. It can also be integrated with the Army’s C4I (Command, Control, Communications, Computers and Intelligence) network.
According to the available information, the system is designed to intercept hostile drones and autonomous drone swarms. The input does not mention the date of the trial or any official response from the Indian Army. According to the company, the trial was successful.
Vehicle-mounted mobile system
Bhargavastra can be mounted on a vehicle, allowing it to be moved quickly and deployed wherever required.
The company said this enables faster operations in different locations.
Equipped with indigenous rockets and micro-missiles
According to the company, the system is fitted with indigenously developed rockets and precision micro-missiles.
It claims these weapons can destroy hostile drones in mid-air.
Can be deployed from deserts to 5,000-metre-high mountains
The company said Bhargavastra can be deployed in deserts, plains and mountainous areas up to 5,000 metres above sea level.
It has been designed to operate in a wide range of geographical conditions.
Can detect drones up to 10 km away
The system’s control centre is equipped with a radar capable of detecting drones up to 10 km away, along with specialised sensors.
According to the company, these sensors help identify and track targets, allowing the system to take action against hostile drones.
