
Sonam Wangchuk was taken by Delhi Police to Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi on Saturday morning.
Wangchuk was on a hunger strike for 21 days at Jantar Mantar in Delhi, demanding the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
According to a statement issued by the CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke, the police had taken Wangchuk forcefully.
In 21 days, he lost 9.5 kg of weight. During this period, several opposition leaders and actors came to meet him.

On the morning of July 18, on the 20th day of his hunger strike, Delhi Police lifted Sonam Wangchuk from the stage at Jantar Mantar and took him to an ambulance. He was admitted to Safdarjung Hospital.

On July 12, film actor Prakash Raj reached Jantar Mantar in support of Sonam Wangchuk. He also demanded the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.

June 30 marked the third day of Wangchuk’s hunger strike at Jantar Mantar in Delhi.

On June 29, CPI(M) leader Prakash Karat arrived to meet Wangchuk on the second day of the hunger strike.

On June 28, before starting the hunger strike at Jantar Mantar in Delhi, Sonam Wangchuk visited Mahatma Gandhi’s memorial at Rajghat along with CJP founder Abhijit Deepke.
