She urged the Delhi Police to allow their lawyers’ team to assist the remaining detainees, calling it their legal right.

CJP members Saurav Das, Ashutosh Ranka and Deepak Baliyan announced protest outside Delhi Police Headquarters at 8 pm, alleging that lawyers are not being allowed to meet detained protesters and that a complete detainee list has not been shared.

They claimed the Delhi Police used excessive force while detaining hundreds of peaceful protesters.

An ambulance from Medanta Hospital has arrived at Safdarjung Hospital to shift activist Sonam Wangchuk. His wife, Dr Gitanjali Angmo, was present at the hospital.

The Delhi High Court allowed Wangchuk’s transfer to the private hospital for further treatment.

The protest by the Cockroach Janata Party at Jantar Mantar over the NEET paper leak issue entered its 32nd day today. CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke alleged that the government wasted their time.

Dipke said, “They called our delegation for a meeting and seized their mobile phones. Ashutosh Ranka and Saurav Das were kept under a sort of house arrest at JP Nadda’s residence.”

He alleged, “The entire plan was to disperse the team so that no one would be present there when the chaos started. That is why they kept them seated for five hours and wasted our time. On one hand, you call us for talks, and on the other hand, you lathi-charge students.”

The central government has not yet responded to these allegations.

AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal accused the Modi government of using force against students protesting paper leaks.

He claimed several students suffered injuries, were booked under false FIRs and arrested. Kejriwal said AAP’s helpline helped trace missing students and around 70-80 protesters were released.

Congress leader Sandeep Dikshit, speaking during the party’s protest outside Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s residence, said Rahul Gandhi has consistently raised concerns related to the education system and youth issues.

Dikshit said, “The day the paper leaked, Rahul Gandhi took to the streets. The government has been trying to politicise this matter. We have to stand with every youth of the country whose aspirations and expectations were brutally trampled by the government yesterday.”

AAP Convenor Arvind Kejriwal said detained protesters were being provided food and other necessities. He said his team was helping trace missing students and assisting those arrested.

Kejriwal said several students were injured during the protest and called the action against them unacceptable. He will visit Jantar Mantar to meet the protesting students.

NCP (SP) leader Sharad Pawar reached Jantar Mantar on Wednesday afternoon. He will interact with the protesting students.

Congress MP Jairam Ramesh said the party’s demand is for the Home Minister to clarify the issue in Parliament and allow a discussion in the House.

He alleged that democracy and the Constitution were being undermined and accused the government of committing atrocities against students. Ramesh added that Congress has been demanding the resignation of the Education Minister for the past 45 days.

During the protest, Union Minister Jitendra Singh reached the spot where Congress leaders were staging a sit-in and interacted with the protesters.

Congress leader Kanhaiya Kumar accused the Delhi Police of using excessive force against students and protesters during the ongoing demonstrations.

Addressing the police, he said, “This is hooliganism. You people beat children. This government arrests those who ask for justice.”

Congress workers protesting at Lok Kalyan Marg were detained by Delhi Police. Reacting to the action, Congress MP Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa said, “If this is the condition of MPs, imagine what is happening to the students.”

Congress leader Rajeev Shukla alleged that students were subjected to injustice during the previous day’s events, as he joined the Congress protest outside 7, Lok Kalyan Marg.

“We all saw the injustice meted out to the students yesterday,” Shukla said during the protest.

Congress MP Charanjit Singh Channi, while protesting outside Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s official residence at 7, Lok Kalyan Marg, accused the Centre of ignoring students’ concerns and termed its actions “sheer hooliganism”.

“They don’t listen to the students. This is gundagardi, sheer hooliganism. This is nothing short of high-handedness,” Channi said during the protest.

The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) has removed its spokesperson Vijeta Dahiya from the post after videos of him surfaced during the party’s protest. In a statement, the party strongly condemned Dahiya’s actions, calling them “deeply insensitive” while peaceful protesters and party members were allegedly facing police action.

The party said the conduct was “unacceptable”, reflected a “complete lack of judgment”, and was inconsistent with the values and principles of the movement. CJP announced that Dahiya has been removed as the party spokesperson and relieved of all official responsibilities with immediate effect.

NCP (SP) leader Sharad Pawar reached Jantar Mantar on Wednesday afternoon. He is scheduled to interact with the protesting students at the demonstration site.

AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal reached Mandir Marg Police Station with a legal team and met the youths who had been arrested. He is expected to proceed to Parliament Street Police Station to seek the release of other detained protesters.

Rahul Gandhi said the Opposition marched to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s residence to demand answers over the alleged brutalities against students a day earlier.

In a post on X, Gandhi said, “We have marched to PM Modi’s house to demand answers from him for the brutalities against young students yesterday. The Government doesn’t want to take any accountability or does it want to have a debate on it in Parliament. PM and HM must resign for destroying the future of India’s youth.”

Congress MP K. Suresh alleged that police “brutally” detained Opposition MPs during a protest outside the Prime Minister’s residence over the police action against students.

He said the protesters were demanding accountability after students were “brutally attacked” by Delhi Police and criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah for not responding to the incident.

Supriya Sule reached Jantar Mantar on Tuesday to extend support to the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) protest. Aam Aadmi Party founder Arvind Kejriwal is also expected to join the protest shortly.

Protests are not permitted at Delhi’s Lok Kalyan Marg as it is a highly sensitive VVIP zone housing the Prime Minister’s official residence.

The area is usually under prohibitory orders (Section 163 of the BNSS, earlier Section 144 CrPC), which ban gatherings of five or more people and prohibit marches.

Security around the Prime Minister’s residence is maintained by the Special Protection Group (SPG), with support from the Delhi Police and paramilitary forces.

Hundreds of youths under the Uttarakhand Unemployed Association, along with political workers, staged a protest in Dehradun on the lines of the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) movement, demanding pending recruitments and Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation.

Police stopped marchers heading to the Secretariat, triggering heated arguments, scuffles and attempts to climb barricades. Separately, SFI and AAP workers protested in support of Sonam Wangchuk, saying, “We are not terrorists.”

BJP MP Nishikant Dubey on Tuesday claimed that Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke would contest elections on a Bhim Army ticket in the future, saying every mass movement eventually produces political leaders.

Speaking to reporters in the Parliament House complex, Dubey said, “Every movement has produced political leaders. The JP movement produced leaders, including Lalu Prasad Yadav. Arvind Kejriwal also emerged from Anna Hazare’s movement.”

He said Dipke could also enter electoral politics in the future. “Even in Nepal, those associated with the Gen Z movement eventually joined a political party. Similarly, Abhijeet Dipke will join a political party. I can say with certainty that he will contest elections on a Bhim Army ticket,” Dubey said.

Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke said the party’s demands remain unchanged, including the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, ₹1 crore compensation for the families of the victims, and the immediate release of Sonam Wangchuk and all detained protesters.

Calling it a “long battle”, Dipke said the party was determined to continue the agitation. “We are not only going to fight it, we are going to win it,” he said.

Asked whether the CJP would hold fresh talks with the government, Dipke said, “They will have to come here (Jantar Mantar). We won’t be going to them now.”

Bhaskar’s reporter Uday Bhatnagar reached Ram Manohar Lohia (RML) Hospital, where several protesters injured during the July 20 police action at Jantar Mantar are undergoing treatment.

The reporter found a heavy deployment of Delhi Police personnel outside the hospital’s emergency department. According to the ground report, visitors were being questioned before being allowed entry. Media personnel were also stopped and told they would not be allowed inside to speak with the injured protesters.

Activist Sonam Wangchuk’s wife, Dr Gitanjali Angmo, welcomed the Delhi High Court’s decision allowing his transfer to Medanta Hospital and alleged that he was being “detained” at Safdarjung Hospital.

Angmo said Wangchuk’s health could have been monitored at Jantar Mantar and claimed his hospitalisation was unnecessary. She alleged he was kept at the hospital to prevent him from meeting people, adding that his health was not life-threatening.

She said Wangchuk will continue his fast in solidarity with students allegedly beaten during Monday’s protests. Angmo also claimed that several MPs and even his treating doctors, Dr Lamba and Dr Dighe, were not allowed to meet him at Safdarjung Hospital.

Mamata Banerjee reiterated her resolve to continue the fight against the BJP, announcing that she would tour districts across West Bengal.

In a sharp jibe at the BJP, she said she would even join protests organised by the “Cockroach Janata Party” in Delhi if necessary, continuing her attack on the saffron party.

Delhi Police said more FIRs are likely to be registered in connection with the CJP protest as investigators continue examining CCTV footage, social media posts and videos from multiple sources.

Additional DCP Anand Kumar Mishra said a number of FIRs have already been filed, and the count could increase as the investigation progresses.

He said more than 100 CCTV cameras were installed across the protest area, with dedicated teams monitoring the footage. Police are also scrutinising videos recorded by individuals, social media content and footage captured by cameras deployed by the force.

Mishra added that a dedicated investigation team had already been constituted in advance to ensure a swift probe if required, and the team is currently carrying out the investigation.

AAP leader Kuldeep Kumar alleged that police fired tear gas shells at protesters.

Speaking at the protest, Kumar said, “Tear gas shells were fired. This was not the Pakistan border; this is Delhi, the country’s capital. They were your own children. The entire country witnessed what you did, and the people of this country will give you a fitting response.”

Dr Himani Ahluwalia, Director of Lady Hardinge Medical College, said all patients admitted after the incident were kept under observation and given proper treatment before being discharged.

She said only one patient remains admitted, whom Union Health Minister JP Nadda met. The patient was happy after the meeting, and the minister offered reassurance, she added.

A tourist from Norway reacted to the police action during the CJP protest, saying, “I come from Norway, and when there are demonstrations, the police don’t beat people up or arrest them because it is the people’s right to express their opinions. The government works for the people.” He added that he would like to see less violence during protests.

The Delhi High Court has allowed activist Sonam Wangchuk to be shifted from Safdarjung Hospital to Medanta Hospital, as requested. Safdarjung Hospital has been directed to hand over all medical records, while Medanta’s director will constitute a panel of doctors to oversee his further treatment.

CPI MP P Sandosh Kumar arrived at the CJP protest at Jantar Mantar and alleged that more than 300 students were attacked during Monday’s protest. He said Union Home Minister Amit Shah should make a statement in Parliament and explain what happened.

Congress MP Manish Tewari condemned the police action against students during the CJP protest, calling it an atrocity. He said the incident should be discussed in Parliament and that the Congress would continue to raise the issue.

His remarks came after Union Health Minister J P Nadda said talks with the CJP delegation had gone well and appealed to the protesters to end their sit-in.

She added that Wangchuk is receiving oral rehydration therapy and potassium supplements but is refusing intravenous fluids and glucose. He remains under continuous medical monitoring due to dehydration and prolonged fasting.

BJP leader K Sudhakar said the CJP protest over the NEET issue was being watched by the entire country and alleged that it was a “toolkit matter” with little that was genuine.

He accused the opposition of attempting to disrupt democracy, saying India is a deeply democratic country and that people can distinguish between truth and falsehood.

AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal said he will hold a press conference at 11 am today over the police action against students during Monday’s protest.

He added that he will later visit RML Hospital to meet those injured in the incident.

Delhi Police has intensified its investigation into the violence during the Cockroach Janata Party’s (CJP) “Chalo Sansad” protest. Police are examining CCTV footage and mobile videos to identify those involved in the clashes.

Traffic restrictions and diversions may be imposed from 8.30 am onwards, depending on the situation. Commuters have been advised to avoid routes around Satyagrah Marg, Velodrome Road, Rajghat DTC Depot Road and adjoining areas.

Those travelling to the airport or railway stations have been urged to plan their journeys in advance, follow directions issued by traffic police personnel, park only in designated areas and use navigation apps for real-time traffic updates.

Additionally, Delhi Police said around 15 to 20 government vehicles and other public property were vandalised during the protest march to Parliament.
