Delhi Police has decided not to register a criminal case against the minor girl accused of using abusive language against Prime Minister Narendra Modi during a protest at Jantar Mantar, according to media reports.

Police said no further action would be taken against the 15-year-old after Prime Minister Modi publicly said he wanted to forgive the “misguided” children involved.

The case began after Noida Police registered a Zero FIR against the girl over allegedly derogatory remarks made against the Prime Minister during a protest march to Parliament.

The FIR was lodged at the Expressway police station on the complaint of Ghaziabad-based lawyer Smriti Singh Chandel.

The girl, identified as Ruchika Singh, later released a video apologising for her remarks, saying she had been “misled” and describing it as her “first and last mistake.”

Timeline of the case

July 23

A video of the girl allegedly abusing PM Modi during the Parliament March protest went viral on social media.

July 30

Noida Police registered a Zero FIR against her following a complaint by lawyer Smriti Singh Chandel.

July 31

PM Modi shared an Instagram reel saying children make mistakes, calling them “misguided” and expressing his wish to forgive them.

August 1

The girl released an apology video, saying she was only 15 years old, had been misled, and regretted her remarks.

Meanwhile, Anoop Khetan, the state president of the Hindu Suraksha Seva Sangh and one of the complainants, questioned the authenticity of the apology video, claiming the girl seen apologising did not appear to be the same person featured in the original viral clip. He said he was analysing both videos and raised doubts about whether they showed the same individual.
