Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend the 57th convocation ceremony of IIT Delhi as the chief guest on Saturday at 11 am. More than 3,000 students will receive their degrees during the ceremony, including 587 PhD scholars.

Modi will also inaugurate ‘Param Pragya’, an AI-based high-performance supercomputer established at IIT Delhi’s Sonipat campus.

Param Pragya to boost AI and advanced computing research

Param Pragya is a High-Performance Computing (HPC) system designed to perform complex calculations at high speeds. It will support research in areas including artificial intelligence, data science, advanced computing and scientific research.

The supercomputer is expected to provide researchers with greater computing capabilities for handling complex problems and analysing large volumes of data.

37 supercomputers installed under National Supercomputing Mission

India has installed 37 supercomputers so far under the National Supercomputing Mission (NSM), with all of them currently operational.

These systems have been deployed at leading institutions, including IITs, IISc, NITs, C-DAC, IISERs and other research organisations across the country.

List includes Param Siddhi, Param Pravega and Param Rudra

Some of India’s prominent supercomputers include:

Param Siddhi — Pune

Param Pravega — IISc Bengaluru

Param Shakti — IIT Kharagpur

Param Sanganak — IIT Kanpur

Param Seva — IIT Hyderabad

Param Rudra — New Delhi, Mumbai and Chennai

Param Brahma — Pune

Param Yukti — Bengaluru

Param Shivay — IIT-BHU, Varanasi

These supercomputing systems are being used to strengthen India’s capabilities in AI, scientific research, weather forecasting, data analysis, engineering and advanced computing.
