Indian Army sources in Arunachal Pradesh have claimed that reports of Chinese infiltration are false. According to an ANI report, Army sources said on Tuesday that the Army and the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) are continuously monitoring Chinese activities and that claims of a “slow infiltration” being carried out on social media are incorrect.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has also reiterated that Arunachal Pradesh is an integral and inalienable part of India. The MEA made the statement amid China’s attempts to assign Chinese names to places in Arunachal Pradesh.

China has continued to claim Arunachal as ‘South Tibet’

According to ANI, China has continued to claim Arunachal Pradesh as ‘South Tibet’. During the 1960 border talks, China had claimed around 69,000 sq km of land in Arunachal Pradesh. India has repeatedly rejected China’s claim.

On Friday, the Indian government officially listed 27 places and their geographical features in Arunachal Pradesh on its official map. The move came amid China’s attempts to rename places in the state.

On Monday, China said India’s depiction of 27 places in Arunachal Pradesh on its map was incorrect. China termed it “invalid”.

China has repeatedly issued names for places in Arunachal

China has repeatedly released lists of Chinese names for places in Arunachal Pradesh. It refers to Arunachal Pradesh as Zangnan.

India has consistently rejected these attempts, saying they have no impact on its sovereignty over the state.
