The Indian Institute of Forest Management (IIFM), Bhopal is a leading institute for careers in environment, natural resources and climate.
It is the only institute in the country where forestry and management are taught together.
Established in 1982
Along with formal education, research, training and consulting are also conducted here.
The IIFM campus is spread over about 230 acres near Bhadbhada Barrage.
- Its master plan was prepared by architect Anant Raje between 1984 and 1989.
- The campus architecture is inspired by Mandu.
- The library has more than 46,192 books and over 13,000 online journals.
IIFM provides mentorship and funding to start-ups related to the environment and sustainable development.
Recognition
The institute is accredited by the National Board of Accreditation and has an A grade from NAAC. The management programmes are approved by AICTE.
- There are four two-year full-time residential MBA programmes here.
- All include a compulsory 10-week summer internship and fieldwork.
- A minimum of 50% marks in graduation is required for admission.
- CAT, XAT, MAT or CMAT scores are accepted here.
- This is followed by a personal interview.
- Interviews are conducted in seven cities.
Two doctoral programmes available
Fellow Programme in Management:
- This is a four-year programme and is fully funded through a fellowship.
- It has 20 seats.
Admission to this programme:
- Admission is based on CAT, GMAT, GRE, NET-JRF, ICAR-SRF, DST INSPIRE and CSIR-NET-BF scores.
- This is followed by a Research Aptitude Test (RAT) and a personal interview.
PhD Programme (FRI):
- This is a PhD programme affiliated to the Forest Research Institute.
- The number of seats is not fixed.
Course for working professionals
The Chartered Forester Certificate Course (C3F) is an online certification programme for working professionals.
- Around six hours of recorded video lessons are provided every week.
- This allows professionals to study according to their convenience.
- It is a short-term certification programme of 4.5 months, or 19 weeks.
Candidates are selected on the basis of merit marks obtained in their previous qualifying examination (graduation).
