The Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) has praised activist Sonam Wangchuk’s 26-day Gandhian satyagraha, describing it as a historic act that inspired people across the country.

In a post on X, the party said Wangchuk’s fast for the country’s youth was “a pure and supreme sacrifice” that would be remembered as a moral force which united people against overwhelming odds.

The statement, shared by CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke, also expressed gratitude to Wangchuk, saying: “Words cannot fully express our thanks for your contributions. We love you and are endlessly grateful for your satyagraha.”

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has announced that the entry gates at all stations across the Delhi Metro network have been reopened.

The update comes after temporary restrictions at several stations. Metro services are now operating normally, with passengers allowed to enter all stations.

After talks with the government, Cockroach Janta Party’s chief spokesperson Saurav Das announced that the party is withdrawing its agitation, saying it was doing so ‘in good faith’ and on the understanding that the terms agreed upon with the government would be executed within the agreed timelines.

Nadda said, “Friends, today was our third meeting with Sourav. We had a long conversation today as well. He gave four points and his demands were discussed. The first demand was that no action be taken against the protesters, which the government has accepted. Regarding the five-point proposal, we say that we will think about reforming the exam and then inform them about it.”

Nadda said, “The government has accepted the demands. I request the protesters to end their agitation.” Following this, the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) announced the end of the agitation and said, “The government has accepted our demands. Therefore, we appeal to end the protest immediately. We will give further information later.”

CJP spokesperson Ashutosh Ranka said, “We held three talks with the government over the past few days. We had three demands: Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation, the withdrawal of cases against the protesters, and no future action. The third demand was compensation of one crore rupees to the deceased. Dharmendra Pradhan resigned a short while ago today. Our first demand has been met.” The second demand was to withdraw the FIRs filed against the protesters, which the government has also accepted. The government will share copies of the 15-20 cases filed with us. We will receive these copies within three to four days. No future action will be taken against the CJP team.

After talks with the government, CJP national spokesperson Ashutosh Ranka said three rounds of discussions were held with the government delegation over the protest’s three main demands: Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation, withdrawal of all FIRs and legal cases against protesters and organisers with no future cases to be filed, and ₹1 crore compensation for families who lost loved ones after the NEET exam was disrupted by the paper leak. With Pradhan’s resignation now announced, he said the first of these three demands stands accepted.

Union Ministers JP Nadda and Dr. Jitendra Singh are holding talks with Cockroach Janata Party representatives Sourav Das and Ashutosh Ranka at the Constitution Club. The two sides are expected to hold a joint press conference shortly.

Talks between the government and the Janta Party are underway at the Constitution Club.

Vijay Varma, Vir Das, Swara Bhasker, Varun Grover and many others from the world of showbiz on Saturday hailed the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, calling it a victory for the students who have been relentlessly protesting over the NEET paper leak issue.

Dharmendra Pradhan also protested against the paper leak issue 29 years ago. Prashant Raut, a former associate of Pradhan, told The Indian Express that in 1997, when a paper leak occurred in Odisha, Pradhan led a protest. Around 1,500 students participated. Police lathi-charged the protesters. Dharmendra Pradhan was severely beaten. He suffered multiple injuries and fractures.

Reacting to Pradhan’s resignation, Mallikarjun Kharge wrote, “PM Modi should apologise to youth; take strict action against those who unleashed lathis, pellet guns.”

CJP’s Dipke says, “Dharmendra Pradhan has resigned. But the families of the children who committed suicide should receive compensation of one crore rupees. They should get it. One crore rupees in compensation to all those families. And second, these police goons who acted on the 20th. Action must be taken against the police officers for that.”

On the 36th day of the protest at Jantar Mantar, Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has resigned.

During the clash with police at Jantar Mantar, protesters broke through the barricades. Several protesters were also reportedly injured during the police lathi charge.

CJP Spokesperson Saurav Das says, “On July 26th, Sunday, we have declared that all people across the country, in their respective villages and cities, will take out a peaceful candle march.

Every youth who is a victim of this system, every student who is suffering because of this education sector- for them, one candle.

And taking that candle, we request that everyone take out a march towards their collector’s office and go there and protest peacefully.”

Stone-pelting broke out during the student protest at Jantar Mantar in Delhi at around 1:30 pm on Saturday.

Police reportedly responded with a lathi charge and also fired tear gas shells to disperse the crowd.

The Bihar bandh called against the NEET paper leak, demand for the Union Education Minister’s resignation, and police lathicharge has turned violent in several parts of the state.

Protesters pelted stones at police in Siwan, while clashes were also reported in Bhagalpur, Patna, Chhapra and other districts.

More than 10 rounds of firing reported in Siwan

In Siwan, protesters allegedly attacked police and engaged in heavy stone-pelting. Police initially fired tear gas shells to disperse the crowd.

More than 10 rounds of direct firing were reported during the clash. Siwan SP Puran Jha was injured in the hand after being hit by a stone thrown by protesters.

DCP Central Rohit Rajbir Singh says, “In line with the Government of India’s commitment to combat paper leaks and irregularities in various competitive exams, the Delhi Police has formed a Special Task Force within the Crime Branch. This team will be led by a DCP-level officer and supervised by the Special CP, Crime.”

DCP Central Rohit Rajbir Singh says, “Our investigation also revealed that some social media accounts operated from Pakistan are spreading fake content. Delhi Police, in collaboration with the concerned agencies, is continuously working to identify more such accounts.

More than 400 such handles have been identified so far and blocked for spreading AI-generated content, deepfake videos, edited photos and other false content related to the protests.”

Delhi Police said, “Information on social media can spread very quickly. That is why people should verify the facts before believing or sharing any information. We are also keeping a close watch on fake news and continuously monitoring social media.”

JJD Chief Tej Pratap Yadav was detained by police during a student protest over the NEET issue.

He says, “I stand with students and youth. I am ready to die for them.”

The echo of the ongoing NEET and anti-paper leak movement at Jantar Mantar in Delhi has now reached Jaipur.

The anger of students and youth against paper leaks in various competitive exams in the state, including NEET, is continuously increasing.

Today, protests, hunger strikes, and candle marches will intensify against the government at several places in Jaipur.

On Saturday in UP, protests are taking place in several cities, including Prayagraj, Lucknow, and Saharanpur, in support of the ‘Cockroach Janta Party’ (CJP). In Prayagraj, amidst the rain, more than 500 students took to the streets.

The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) has asked Delhi Police to immediately stop what it calls the illegal detention, intimidation and prevention of people trying to reach Jantar Mantar.

The party also appealed to the police not to create an atmosphere of fear or surround the protest site with heavy restrictions.

Student protests continue across Bihar. Police have carried out lathi charges on protesters in Patna, Ara, Siwan and Chapra. In Siwan, police also fired warning shots into the air to bring the protest under control after stone-pelting.

The July 26 joint march organised by the Shiv Sena (UBT) and MNS will be non-political, without flags of either party, and slogans should be restricted to condemning the government’s action and supporting students, MNS chief Raj Thackeray said.

The joint “Tiranga” march is organised by Shiv Sena (UBT) and MNS, headed by Uddhav Thackeray and his cousin Raj Thackeray, respectively, in support of students and Cockroach Janta Party supporters demanding Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation.

“This is a Tiranga March. It is completely non-political. There will be no party flags, there will be no slogans in support of the leaders of either party.

There will be slogans condemning the government’s actions and expressing our support for students and young people across the country,” Raj Thackeray stated in a Facebook post on Saturday.

At CJP protest at Jantar Mantar yesterday, Mani Shankar Aiyar said, “Today’s youth are not just students; they are teaching a lesson to the country. What is that lesson?

The lesson is – Be Fearless. Our generation was really scared. Hearing Modi ji and Amit Shah’s names used to make us shiver. We used to suspect that if we raised our voice, something would happen to us.”

CJP spokesperson Ashutosh Ranka said that Delhi Police can do whatever they want, but they cannot stop people from coming to Jantar Mantar.

He also said that the police cannot prevent people from bringing food or helping one another.

A Ghaziabad resident volunteering at the ongoing Cockroach Janta Party (CJP)-led protest against alleged paper leaks at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar has alleged that police detained his family members in Ghaziabad and harassed his relatives in Meerut because of his role in the agitation.

In view of the protests, Delhi Police has deployed 18 Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPs) along different routes and has registered around 15 FIRs so far.

Police said that if the CJP or any other group makes any allegations, they will be investigated and the findings will be shared accordingly.

The special fast-track court in Delhi has started hearing the NEET paper leak case. Special Judge Anu Grover Baliga took charge of the court on Saturday.

The Delhi High Court recently set up this special court to hear all criminal cases related to paper leaks and irregularities in examinations.

Pending cases registered under the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 2024, will also be transferred to this court to ensure faster hearings.

“We too will give a list of Police personnel to Delhi Police, who cracked open the heads of children, dragged them on streets, broke the ribs of our volunteers and slapped young girls. We will identify them not through FRS but through the public.

We will make it public. Let’s see what Delhi Police have to say to that,” says Cockroach Janta Party National Spokesperson Ashutosh Ranka on Delhi Police saying that they have identified over 2000 people with a criminal background who had come to Jantar Mantar, with the help of Facial Recognition System (FRS) cameras.

NCP (SP) leader Anish Gawande says, “Anti-paper leak bill is a good bill, and it’s a good step to terminate NTA officers, but Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation is a must.”

A suo motu FIR has been registered at Hare Street Police Station after violence broke out during a protest at Dorina Crossing in central Kolkata on Friday afternoon.

Police said the incident is one of six cases registered in connection with the demonstration.

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said young people have every right to demand what they believe is fair and that they do not appear willing to back down.

He added that it is now up to the central government to decide whether to accept their demands and how long the current standoff should continue.

Delhi Police Sources say 130 Police personnel have been injured. 15 FIRs have been registered. About 65 students were injured in the protest.

Around 10,000 people on average are present at and around Jantar Mantar; 3,000 police personnel are deployed there.

With the help of Facial Recognition System (FRS) cameras, Delhi Police is identifying anti-social elements coming to Jantar Mantar.

CJP spokesperson Ashutosh Ranka said the party expects a written assurance from the government today on compensation for the families of students who died by suicide and the withdrawal of cases filed against protesters.

He added that the CJP is also waiting for the government’s response to the main demand of the movement—the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.

Delhi Police increased barricading at Jantar Mantar late at night. During the operation, several barricades were welded together to strengthen the security arrangements.

After the government removed 47 NTA officials on Friday, Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) spokesperson Ashutosh Ranka said it was important to know which officials had been suspended and what the intention behind the move was.

Liquor shops across Delhi will operate with reduced timings over the weekend, closing at 8 PM instead of the usual 10 PM, as the Delhi government has imposed precautionary restrictions in view of the ongoing student protest at Jantar Mantar.

According to Delhi government officials, the decision has been taken based on inputs from Delhi Police, which flagged the need for additional preventive measures to maintain law and order in the central Delhi area.

CJP spokesperson Ashutosh Ranka said on Saturday, “If Dharmendra Pradhan does not resign, such talks are meaningless. We will decide our future course of action. If the government continues in this manner, we will be forced to take a tough stand.”

At Jantar Mantar, CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke says, “I don’t know what talent PM sees in Dharmendra Pradhan that to protect him, entire Delhi has been thrown out of gear.”

Protesters formed a human wall at Jantar Mantar, holding a variety of posters carrying different messages.

A candlelight march was held at Jantar Mantar late on Friday night.

Protesters held a candlelight vigil, carrying posters as well as the shoes and slippers of protesters who were injured during the police lathi charge at the 20 July Parliament march.

In a video message, Prime Minister Narendra Modi thanked people for their positive response to a video he had shared.

He said, “Thank you, friends. I got the opportunity to meet you late last night. Thank you for the positive feedback and valuable suggestions on the video I posted.”

Modi added that if people continued to show the same affection and support, his bond with them would continue to grow stronger. He ended the message by thanking everyone once again.

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has announced that 18 metro stations will remain closed from 7:30 am on 25 July until further notice.

The affected stations include those near the Prime Minister’s residence, such as Lok Kalyan Marg, Janpath, Supreme Court, Rajiv Chowk and Patel Chowk.

Sonam Wangchuk released another video message at 10:53 pm on Friday, saying he had lost 11 kg after fasting for 26 days.

He questioned whether he now needed a “character certificate” to prove the sincerity of his hunger strike.

He said many people had questioned why he ended his fast after Union ministers intervened, with some suggesting a deal had been made.

Wangchuk rejected the allegation, saying that if he wanted a deal, he would not have remained hungry for 26 days.

He added that if he had wanted to make a deal, he could have done so without going on a hunger strike, and criticised those making such allegations.

Protests against the NEET paper leak and alleged examination irregularities were held in more than 15 states on Friday.

Rallies took place in 30 cities, including Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Patna, Bhopal, Guwahati and Aizawl.

Violent clashes were reported between protesters and security forces in Kolkata.

According to reports, 400 people were detained in Mumbai and 56 in Patna. So far, 30 FIRs have been registered across the country.

Due to the protests, all liquor shops in the capital will close at 8 pm on Saturdays and Sundays.

On Thursday, liquor shops were also closed early without any notice. Normally, they close at 10 pm.

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation has announced that 18 metro stations will be closed from 7:30 am on July 25th until further notice.

These include the PM House area, i.e., Lok Kalyan Marg, Janpath, Supreme Court, Rajiv Chowk, and Patel Chowk.
