Uttar Pradesh MP Chandrashekhar Azad has been staging a sit-in outside Parliament in protest against the alleged lathi charge on Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) protesters. He has been sitting beneath the Ambedkar statue outside Parliament since late Monday night. Despite rain on Tuesday morning, he remained at the site, sheltering under an umbrella.
In a post on X, Azad wrote,
Whenever oppression crosses all limits, that is when the sun of change begins to rise. The brutal treatment meted out to boys and girls at Jantar Mantar has deeply shaken me. I did not witness the Jallianwala Bagh era, but the scenes witnessed today certainly reminded me of that dark chapter in history.
He also said,
I am sitting at the very place where I took the oath to uphold the Constitution, to protect its dignity. I am simply fulfilling my duty by raising my voice against the atrocities committed on innocent people.
