A 15-year-old state-level rifle shooter from Howrah has gone missing after leaving home to buy milk on the morning of her tournament. The teenager, identified as Damayanti Sen, was last seen on CCTV footage at Howrah railway station. The Government Railway Police (GRP) have launched a probe into the disappearance.

Teen shooter disappears before scheduled tournament
Damayanti, a resident of 30/2 Umacharan Bhattacharya Lane in central Howrah, is a student at Olympian Joydeep Karmakar’s rifle shooting academy. According to her family, she left home around 9 am on Thursday to buy milk from a nearby shop but never returned.
Initially, family members believed she had gone for her usual morning walk by the riverside. When she could not be traced, they alerted the police.

CCTV captures teenager entering Howrah station
CCTV footage reviewed by investigators reportedly shows Damayanti entering Howrah railway station at 9:46 am. She was last seen at 10:01 am walking towards Platforms 4 and 5. Her family said local trains to Arambagh and Bardhaman were scheduled around that time.
Her father, Dhrubajyoti Sen, said Damayanti was wearing a pink outfit when she left home. Contrary to initial reports, he said her mobile phone was left at home.
National trials hopeful vanished after shopping
Damayanti had recently qualified for the national team trials and trained every morning. Her family said she had gone to bed early the previous night and had shown no signs of stress, conflict or unusual behaviour.
Rail Police probe mysterious disappearance continues
A missing person complaint has been registered with Howrah Police. The family has also circulated appeals on social media, prompting several calls claiming to have spotted the teenager. However, none of the leads has been verified. One such tip from Bardhaman was later found to be incorrect.
Railway Police have confirmed that they are probing the entire incident, while efforts to trace the missing shooter continue.
