The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has conducted a raid at the shop owned by Praveen Goyal, father of Siya Goyal, the main accused in the high-profile Ketan Agrawal murder case in Pune.
Acting under the direction of FDA Commissioner Tukaram Mundhe, the team carried out a swift inspection at the establishment in Marketyard and seized suspicious food stock worth around ₹8 lakh.
Officials suspect the shop was operating without a valid licence and have raised concerns over possible food adulteration. Following the raid, authorities ordered the immediate closure of the shop and initiated further investigation.
More than 4 thousand kg of suspicious goods seized
A FDA team conducted a surprise raid at M/s B. G. Goyal & Company, owned by Praveen Goyal, at Market Yard in Pune.
During the operation, officials seized 4,172 kg of suspected and potentially hazardous food stock valued at approximately ₹8.14 lakh.
The seized items included 598 kg of ‘Sant’ brand turmeric powder, 1,258 kg of ‘Sadhu’ brand turmeric powder, 538 kg of ‘Green Leaf’ sesame seeds and 1,778 kg of ‘Madhur’ soya mini chunks.
The FDA has collected samples of all the seized food products and sent them to a laboratory for further analysis. Further action will be taken based on the test results.
Unlicensed business and serious violation of rules
According to the detailed information provided by Food Safety Officers, Praveen Goyal’s establishment was being operated completely illegally without any valid food license or official registration. Furthermore, a very serious violation of food labeling rules was found on the material seized from the shop.
The FDA has stated that there is a strong possibility that all this seized stock is of very poor quality and harmful to public health.
Second big shock to the family after the murder incident
Just a few days ago, on June 18, 2026, Ketan Agrawal was pushed into a valley and murdered from Lohagad Fort near Lonavala. In this case, the main accused Siya Goyal and her boyfriend Chetan Chaudhary have been arrested by the police and are currently in jail.
While the discussion and anger over this murder incident are still fresh, now that the FDA has taken legal action against Siya’s father’s illegal business, a major stir has been created in business circles.
