- Germany Education Hub: AI & Computer Science Courses Demand | Indian Students

Germany is rapidly emerging as a new study-to-work destination for Indian students.
Applications from Indians seeking to study in Germany surged 370% in the first half of 2026, with the sharpest rise seen in master’s programmes in Artificial Intelligence (AI), where applications jumped 600%.
Applications for computer science courses rose 273%, while data science and AI programmes recorded a 173% increase.
In contrast, applications for MBA programmes declined by 13%. Postgraduate courses accounted for 82% of all applications.
The findings are based on counselling and application data from 1.24 lakh Indian students analysed by Leap Scholar.
Students are no longer focused only on lower tuition fees.
Their priorities increasingly include job opportunities, starting salaries, visa policies, permanent residency prospects and return on investment.
630,000 job vacancies make Germany an attractive destination
Germany currently has around 630,000 unfilled jobs, with the highest demand in the technology and healthcare sectors.
This is one of the key reasons more Indian students are choosing the country.
The availability of an 18-month job-seeker visa, the EU Blue Card and the Opportunity Card has further boosted Germany’s appeal.
In the technology sector, graduates earning a starting salary of around ₹60 lakh a year can typically recover their education costs within 18 months to two years.
