1. PM Modi inaugurated International Sports Stadium in Odisha
- On 24 June, PM Narendra Modi inaugurated an International Sports Stadium in Odisha.
- This stadium has been built in Mayurbhanj district, the hometown of President Droupadi Murmu.
- South Asia’s leading sportszinfrastructure company, ‘Great Sports Tech’, designed this stadium.
- The objective of this stadium is to provide opportunities for youth from rural areas to advance in sports.
- This stadium has a FIFA-standard football field, a World Athletics-certified running track, and tennis and pickleball courts.
- Matches can be played in this stadium even at night. It has modern lighting facilities for organising events.

International Sports Stadium in Odisha has been prepared with football, athletics, hockey, tennis, cricket and multi-sport infrastructure.

2. Footballer Ronaldo became the first player to score in 6 World Cups
- On 24 June, Portugal captain Cristiano Ronaldo became the world’s first player to score in 6 Football World Cups.
- The 41-year-old Ronaldo created this record by scoring in the sixth minute against Uzbekistan at Houston Stadium.
- After this, he also scored a second goal in the 39th minute. With the help of these goals, Portugal secured a 5-0 victory.
- Ronaldo also became the player with the most goals for Portugal in the World Cup. He has 10 goals to his name, surpassing Portugal striker Eusebio’s 9 goals.
- For his outstanding achievements in international football, Ronaldo was honoured by FIFA with the ‘Outstanding Career Achievement’ award in 2021.
- Ronaldo has won 5 Ballon d’Or awards and has also won the FIFA Best Player award 2 times.

3. Aviator Studio founder Teimuraz Ugulava passes away
- On 23 June, Teimuraz Ugulava, founder of Aviator Studio, passed away. He was 56 years old.
- Ugulava was the founder and CEO of ‘Aviator Studio’.
- He was known for his significant contribution to the development of Georgia’s modern hospitality and gaming industry.
- He played a significant role in the development of Rooms Hotels, Stamba Hotel, Fabrika Tbilisi and other prestigious projects.
- These projects gave Georgia’s modern tourism industry global recognition.
- ‘Rooms Hotels’ is a lifestyle hospitality brand from Georgia that operates design-focused boutique hotels.
- Launched in 2012, the brand is known for its unique blend of industrial-style architecture, local culture and hospitality.

Ugulava was the founder and CEO of ‘Aviator Studio’.

4. NHAI will launch the country’s first Transport Logistics Research Center
- On 23 June, the Central Government announced the establishment of the first Transport Logistics Research Center of the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) in Delhi.
- NHAI signed this agreement (MoU) with the National Council of Applied Economic Research (NCAER).
- The objective of this centre is to reduce logistics costs in India and modernise the transport network.
- This centre will monitor smart highways and real-time transport, and conduct research on multi-modal policy, toll policy and road safety.
- This will be India’s first permanent and independent institution dedicated to research on the economic aspects of transport and logistics.
- Better data analytics and Artificial Intelligence (AI) will be used for transport management at the research centre.
- NHAI will also work in collaboration with leading educational institutes for this project.
- India’s goal is to bring its logistics capacity to global standards and reduce road accidents.
- This centre will also test new technologies and designs to help reduce road accidents.

Research conducted by NCAER will help the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, NHAI, and other government agencies.
MISCELLANEOUS
5. India and Israel signed an MoU for auditing
- On June 22, this MoU was signed between India’s Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) and Israel’s Supreme Audit Institution (State Comptroller and Ombudsman).
- India and Israel will conduct independent audits of public sector auditing, i.e., financial transactions and functioning of government ministries, departments, and agencies.
- The objective of this agreement is to share better technology in the field of auditing between both countries, so that transparency and accountability in government expenditure can be ensured.
- Under this MoU, training programs will also be organized for audit officers of both countries.
- After this MoU, cooperation in the fields of digital audit, IT audit, and data analytics will increase.
- This MoU was signed during the visit to India of Israel’s State Comptroller and Ombudsman and Chairman of EUROSI, Matanyahu Englman.
- On this occasion, India’s Comptroller and Auditor General K. Sanjay Murthy also held a bilateral meeting with Matanyahu Englman.
- This meeting was attended by Deputy Comptroller and Auditor General (HR, IR, Legal and Coordination) K.S. Subramanyam and Chief Technology Officer (CTO) B.K. Mohanty from the CAG office.
- Along with this, Director General (International Relations) Vimalendra Patwardhan, Israel’s Ambassador to India Reuven Azar, and Head of Israel’s State Comptroller International Department Miri Weiss participated.

This MoU will strengthen transparency and accountability in government financial management.

6. Walking Shark Species Found in Indonesia
- On 22 June, scientists identified a new species of ‘walking shark’ in Indonesian waters and named it Kadedekadeva.
- These sharks can walk on the ocean floor using their fins, which is why they are called walking sharks.
- These sharks are mainly found in shallow coral reef areas. This discovery will help strengthen coral reef ecosystem conservation in the Indo-Pacific region.
- Following the discovery of this new shark species, scientists will be able to conduct further research on sharks and contribute to marine biodiversity conservation.

According to scientists, most species of walking sharks are found only in limited geographical areas.
