Students’ protests continue nationwide over the alleged NEET paper leak, with demonstrators demanding the resignation of the Union Education Minister and condemning the police lathi-charge on protesters. Bihar is observing a bandh today as part of the nationwide agitation.

During the bandh, protesters clashed with police in Patna and Siwan, with stone-pelting reported in both districts. The Superintendent of Police (SP) in Siwan was injured in the violence, while police used batons to disperse demonstrators. RJD leader Tej Pratap Yadav, who joined the protest, was taken into police custody.

Protests were also held in several cities across Uttar Pradesh, including Prayagraj, Lucknow and Saharanpur. In Prayagraj, more than 1,000 students marched through the rain to press their demands.

In Madhya Pradesh, demonstrations were reported in around 20 cities. In Indore, authorities deployed drones to monitor the student protests.

Bihar bandh: stone-pelting in Patna-Siwan, Tej Pratap detained; protesters scale towers, flee with barricades

The Bihar bandh, called by student organisations AISA and the Rashtriya Yuva Andolan (RYA) over the alleged NEET paper leak, the demand for the Union Education Minister’s resignation and the police lathi-charge on protesters, has begun to impact normal life. A large number of students gathered near Gandhi Maidan in Patna.

Several protesters climbed a mobile tower near Ramgulam Chowk, where RJD leader Tej Pratap Yadav was seen waving the Tricolour.

The protesters later marched towards Dakbangla Chauraha but were stopped by police barricades. This led to stone-pelting, following which police moved in to disperse the crowd. Tej Pratap Yadav was subsequently detained by the police.

Protests are also continuing in Madhya Pradesh in support of the ongoing student movement in Delhi. In 20 districts, many people including students and youth are protesting. Dharnas, rallies, and memorandums are being submitted here.

On Friday, student protests were observed in the districts of Indore, Bhopal, Gwalior, Jabalpur, Dhar, Mauganj, Narmadapuram, Jhabua, Singrauli, Bhind, Tikamgarh, Shajapur, Satna, Sidhi, Ratlam, Rewa, Betul, Umaria, Barwani, and Sheopur.

The longest-running protest in the state is ongoing in Indore. Here, students have been protesting at Tantya Bhil Square for the past 25 days. It started with only 5 students staging a sit-in. Now, thousands of protesters are arriving here daily. Police are continuously monitoring them with drones. People involved in the protest are being identified.
