- Kolkata: 3 Ex TMC MPs Join BJP After Election Loss | Sushmita Dev, Sukhendu Shekhar
Three former Rajya Sabha MPs of Trinamool Congress (TMC), Sushmita Dev, Sukhendu Sekhar Ray, and Prakash Chik Baraik, joined the BJP on Thursday. State President Samik Bhattacharya inducted all three of them in Kolkata.
After TMC’s defeat in the West Bengal assembly elections, all three leaders resigned from their Rajya Sabha membership and from TMC. Sukhendu Sekhar resigned on June 8, Sushmita Dev on June 10, and Prakash Chik on June 11.
Voting and Results for all Three Seats on July 24
The Election Commission has released the schedule for the by-elections to be held for the three vacant Rajya Sabha seats in West Bengal.
The notification will be issued on July 7, while the last date for filing nominations has been set as July 14.
Scrutiny of nominations will take place on July 15, and candidates will be able to withdraw their names until July 17.
Voting for these seats will be held on July 24 from 9 AM to 4 PM. Counting of votes will begin at 5 PM on the same day, while the entire election process will be completed by July 27.
