A Delhi Rouse Avenue Court on Monday acquitted BJP leader Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh in the sexual harassment case involving women wrestlers.
Former Kaiserganj MP Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh and former Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) secretary Vinod Tomar were present in court during the hearing.
The court had reserved its verdict on 2 July 2026 after hearing final arguments from both sides. The case first came to light in January 2023. Since then, the trial spanned 1,133 days and 127 hearings. Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Ashwani Panwar delivered the verdict.
Brij Bhushan had been out on regular bail since 20 July 2023. On 10 May 2024, the court framed charges against him based on the Delhi Police chargesheet, following which the trial began.
After the verdict, Brij Bhushan issued his first statement:
“The judge said that Brij Bhushan and Vinod Tomar are honourably acquitted. I had said earlier that if even one allegation against me was proved, I would be ready to hang. Today is a day of happiness for me. I will speak further after receiving a copy of the court’s order. My MLA son and my son-in-law are here. Everyone has come.”
