The State Bank of India (SBI) has started a special recruitment drive for 1,538 Junior Associate (Customer Support & Sales) posts. Candidates can apply online from August 7 to August 27. The preliminary examination is likely to be held in September, while the main examination is expected in October or November.
Selected candidates will receive a starting monthly salary of around ₹46,000, including allowances, in metropolitan cities such as Mumbai. Graduate candidates will also get the benefit of two advance increments, taking the starting basic pay to ₹26,730. In addition, employees will be eligible for DA, PF, pension and other benefits.
The application fee is ₹850. SC, ST and eligible reserved-category candidates are exempt from paying the fee.
Selection Process
The selection process will be conducted in three stages:
- Preliminary Examination
- Main Examination
- Local Language Test
1. Preliminary Examination
The preliminary examination will be an online test carrying 100 marks. Candidates will get one hour to answer 100 questions.
- English: 30 questions
- Numerical Ability: 35 questions
- Reasoning Ability: 35 questions
Candidates will get 20 minutes for each section. There will be negative marking of 1/4 mark for every incorrect answer.
2. Main Examination
Candidates who qualify in the preliminary examination will have to appear for the 200-mark main examination. The duration of the examination will be 2 hours and 40 minutes.
The paper will include:
- General/Financial Awareness: 50 marks
- General English: 40 marks
- Quantitative Aptitude: 50 marks
- Reasoning and Computer Aptitude: 60 marks
The final merit list will be prepared based on the marks obtained in the main examination.
3. Local Language Test
- Candidates who have not studied the local language of the concerned state in Classes 10 or 12 will have to clear a Local Language Proficiency Test (LLPT).
- Candidates who fail the test will not be appointed.
Eligibility and Age Limit
Educational qualification: Candidates holding a graduation degree from any recognised university are eligible to apply. Final-year students can also apply, provided they submit proof of their degree by December 31, 2026.
Age limit: Candidates should be between 20 and 28 years of age as on April 1, 2026. They should have been born between April 2, 1998 and April 1, 2006.
Age relaxation will be applicable as per government rules:
- SC/ST: 5 years
- OBC: 3 years
- PwBD: As per applicable rules
Local language: Candidates must be able to read, write and speak the local language of the state for which they are applying. Those who have not studied the language in Classes 10 or 12 will have to clear the local language test after selection.
