Two persons were arrested on Friday in connection with an alleged sex trafficking and exploitation racket operating from a guest house in Salt Lake’s Sukantanagar area, where police claim women and minor girls were being used for immoral activities.
The arrested accused have been identified as Shaon Dey and Anirban. Both were produced before a court on Friday.

Women and minors rescued during operation
According to police sources, the arrests followed a raid conducted by the Bidhannagar Police Commissionerate’s Detective Department at the guest house after receiving specific inputs. During the operation, police rescued several women and minor girls from the premises. Their statements were subsequently recorded as part of the investigation.

Two accused produced before court Friday
Local residents alleged they had repeatedly complained to Bidhannagar South Police Station about the alleged illegal activities at the guest house. They claimed no action was taken earlier because Sayan Dey was allegedly close to former West Bengal minister Sujit Bose.

Residents alleged repeated ignored police complaints
Police have registered a case and are investigating whether the guest house was being used for organised prostitution, human trafficking, and the exploitation of minors. Investigators are also examining whether the racket had links outside West Bengal and if more people were involved.
