A 19-year-old medical student, Ankita Suresh Sangle, died by suicide on Sunday in Ahilyanagar, Maharashtra.
Police recovered a suicide note from the scene in which she reportedly wrote that she had been experiencing severe mental distress following repeated setbacks in her examinations and that her dream of becoming a doctor had remained unfulfilled.
According to her family, Ankita had been studying in her room before the incident. After an unusually long period of silence, her mother went to check on her, opened the door, and found her unresponsive. Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding her death.
Ankita had scored good marks in the initial NEET exam.
Ankita got 166 marks in the re-exam
In a suicide note found in Ankita’s room, she wrote that she had scored 166 marks in the re-exam, while the cutoff was 177. She asked that her parents and brother not be held responsible for her action.

On June 18, 17-year-old Kahaan Patel took his own life in Surat, Gujarat. His family says he was distressed by the stress associated with the NEET exam and the paper leak.
Kahaan Patel’s father, Prashant Patel, said that on May 12th, during coaching class, his son learned of the NEET-UG paper leak. He immediately flew from Surat to Ahmedabad.
