Shamsher Khan, the deputy chief of Pakistan-based terrorist organisation Hizbul Mujahideen, has publicly acknowledged for the first time that Pakistani terrorists were killed in Kashmir and buried there.
During an event in Muzaffarabad, PoK, Shamsher said, “There is no graveyard in Kashmir where there are no graves of terrorists who came from Pakistan.”
Shamsher claims Pakistani terrorists buried across Kashmir
In the viral video, Shamsher Khan named several areas of Kashmir, claiming that from Lolab and Kupwara to Kathua, there is not a single graveyard without the graves of Pakistani terrorists.
The video is reported to have been recorded during a Jamaat-e-Islami gathering held in Muzaffarabad on 8 July, where Shamsher made the remarks publicly.
Video emerges amid protests in PoK
The video has surfaced at a time of growing public unrest in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), where residents have taken to the streets against the Pakistani military and government under the banner of the Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC).
During his speech, Shamsher criticised the JAAC, accusing the organisation of “betraying” Pakistan and acting in India’s interests.
Islamabad has consistently denied the claim
Shamshir’s statement is considered significant because Pakistan has consistently maintained that it has no involvement in terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir. However, this statement by a senior Hizbul Mujahideen commander is being seen as an open admission of the presence of terrorists originating from Pakistan.
India has long alleged that Pakistan provides training, weapons, and infiltration support to terrorists, a charge Pakistan has consistently denied.
J&K Police intensify crackdown on terror networks
Meanwhile, the Jammu and Kashmir Police have continued their crackdown on terrorist networks and their assets. A few months ago, authorities seized the immovable property of Hizbul Mujahideen’s declared criminal, Ghulam Mohammad Bhat alias Haider.
A resident of Panjalla in Sopore, Haider is currently operating from Pakistan. Investigators said he had illegally crossed into Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) to receive training in the use of illegal arms and ammunition. Indian authorities say they remain committed to dismantling the infrastructure and support networks of such terrorist organisations.
Modi highlights India’s counter-terror capabilities in Australia
As these developments unfold, Prime Minister Narendra Modi highlighted India’s counter-terrorism capabilities during his visit to Australia. Addressing a Pravasi Bharatiya event in Sydney alongside Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, Modi referred to Operation Sindoor and praised the Indian Armed Forces.
He said the world now recognises the capability and reliability of India’s defence system, adding that India is no longer a country that remains silent in the face of terrorism but one that is prepared to pursue and eliminate terrorists wherever they are.
