Nathan Thomas is the world’s youngest male professor. The Guinness Book of Records has recently recognized him. Nathan started teaching engineering at Miami Dade College at the age of 18 years and 346 days. With this, he has broken a 306-year-old record.
Became a professor at the same college where he studied
Born on September 9, 2004, Nathan made history by joining the faculty of Miami Dade College in August 2023. When he first entered the classroom, many students in the class were almost his age. His education also started at a very young age.
He enrolled at Miami Dade College at the age of 10 under a special program. Later, at the age of 14, he moved to Florida International University for further studies. Today, he is a professor at this same college.
Mother Helped in Understanding Concepts
According to Thomas, the interest in technology, engineering and mathematics came naturally because both parents are engineers. Especially mother helped a lot in understanding complex concepts. Mother would explain every difficult thing in an easy way. Now it feels that many of her teachings unknowingly stayed with me, which I didn’t realize at that time. Today this has become an achievement.

Now Studying Law
Nathan had completed both Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Electrical Engineering with honors by the age of 18. Whereas at this age, other peers were just starting college.
Nathan has turned 21 years old and teaches students (COP 2270: C for Engineers:). This course covers computing and programming concepts for engineering students. He is currently starting to study law and wants to specialize in intellectual property law, especially in cases related to STEM.
According to Nathan, engineering taught him to break down and understand complex problems in a structured way. He now applies the same approach in law school. He believes that teaching deepens his own understanding as well. He is expected to complete his degree in 2028. He likes basketball, tennis, and golf. He also plays the piano.
Nathan Thomas says:
Age is not a barrier to success.Every person has their own pace of learning and moving forward according to their age. Therefore, instead of comparing yourself with others, it is better to keep working hard consistently.

Broke the record of female professor too Before Nathan, this record was in the name of McNorren, who was born in 1968. He became a professor in 1717. This record has been considered intact till now. Nathan is 6 days younger than the current youngest female professor Alia Sabur. Alia became a professor in 2008 at the age of 18 years and 362 days. Nathan’s record is in the male category.
