Ten people have died in Assam’s floods over the past 24 hours, taking this year’s death toll to 41. More than 6.53 lakh people across 11 districts have been affected by the flooding.
A rain alert has been issued for 69 districts in Uttar Pradesh today. Continuous rainfall over the past 10 days has caused several rivers to overflow. In Lakhimpur Kheri, the Sharda River is flowing above the danger mark, inundating villages along its banks. Crocodiles have also been spotted on roads and in agricultural fields.
Three active monsoon systems are affecting Madhya Pradesh, bringing nearly 60 hours of continuous rainfall across the state. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned of heavy rainfall in 17 districts over the next 24 hours.
In Jammu and Kashmir’s Bandipora district, a mother and her son were swept away by floodwaters while collecting firewood from a stream. Both died in the incident.

There is a yellow alert in Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Mizoram, Meghalaya, Tripura, Andhra Pradesh.
Strong winds may blow over Karnataka, Telangana and Coastal Andhra Pradesh.

No warning has been issued for Marathwada, Central Maharashtra, West Bengal, East Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi.
