
Two people were killed after a fire broke out in a five-storey residential building in Noida on Wednesday afternoon. A child and a young woman suffered serious burn injuries in the incident.
According to the police’s initial investigation, the fire started while a scooter was being charged. The flames quickly spread through the entire building.
Seven fire engines were sent to the scene, and firefighters are continuing efforts to bring the blaze under control.
More than 100 people were successfully rescued and brought to safety. Videos from the scene show ladders placed between the rooftops of two buildings, allowing residents to cross safely into the neighbouring building.
Police have taken the building operator into custody, and further investigation is underway.

DCP Central Noida said the fire broke out on the first floor of a residential building in the Mamura area of Sector 66, under the Phase-3 police station limits, on Wednesday.
According to the police, an electric scooter caught fire while it was being charged. The flames then spread to several other vehicles parked nearby.
Smoke quickly spread to the upper floors of the building and entered the residents’ flats. Police teams, firefighters and rescue personnel reached the scene soon after receiving the alert and launched a rescue operation.
More than 100 people were safely evacuated from the building. Two people fell ill and were taken to hospital by ambulance. An update on their condition is awaited.
Police have registered a case against the building’s leaseholder and operator on charges of negligence. Both have been taken into custody, and further legal proceedings are underway.

The Fire Services responded immediately and reached the spot in the shortest possible time. Hydraulic platforms, rescue vehicles, and seven fire tenders were deployed to carry out the firefighting and rescue operations.
The building where the fire broke out is a G+4 structure housing around 50 families. All the residents were safely evacuated.
However, two people experienced health complications due to smoke inhalation. The building had parking on the ground floor, not a basement.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath took cognisance of the fire incident in Noida. The Chief Minister issued instructions to the officials.
The Chief Minister directed officials to reach the site immediately. The Chief Minister ordered the acceleration of relief and rescue operations and directed that proper medical treatment be provided to the injured.
