Kangana Ranaut Praises Gen-Z; Changes Stance Amid Parliament Controversy

After the protests, actress and MP Kangana Ranaut, who had earlier criticised students and Gen Z, appears to have changed her stance. In a recent statement, she praised the younger generation and said they are also a part of the government.

Recently, outside Parliament, Kangana was asked about Rahul Gandhi’s remarks that the government should listen to Gen Z. Responding to this, she said, “Gen Z are a part of the government. It is their contribution that our government has been in power for so many years. It is the mandate of Gen Z. Just because 10–15 people use abusive language during protests does not mean they represent the entire Gen Z.”

We are proud of Gen-Z – Kangana Ranaut

Further, Kangana said, ‘Today, the children sitting in Jharkhand who are protesting so well, and the youth who brought medals and dedicated them to the Prime Minister. These are a handful of people who are spoiling the name of Gen-Z. Gen-Z is our biggest strength; we are proud of our Gen-Z.’

Earlier, she had called the new generation ‘gutter-chhaap’

Actress and BJP MP Kangana Ranaut had said about the student movement led by the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) at Jantar Mantar in Delhi that watching Gen-Z’s reels makes her feel like vomiting. Kangana also strongly criticised the protesters for using the ‘cockroach’ symbol, questioning their language and behavior.

Kangana Ranaut expressed her displeasure on Instagram, writing that the protesters’ manner of speaking and language are extremely bad. She wrote, “I have never seen such vulgar content in one frame in my life. Who is giving birth to them and what kind of upbringing are they receiving?”

Kangana had also earlier criticised women from the younger generation, calling them “gutter-chhaap”. In a social media post, she accused some young Hindu women of wanting to imitate the lives of independent, career-oriented women while avoiding the responsibilities that come with such freedom.

She wrote that a new generation of Indian women influenced by what she described as “Western thinking” had emerged. Referring to some of them as “gutter-chhaap”, she alleged that they had little to contribute to society and criticised their academic performance, mindset and attitude towards marriage and family responsibilities.

Kangana further claimed that some young women wrongly equate freedom with drug and alcohol use and having multiple sexual relationships. She also accused them of depending financially on their parents while claiming to want an independent life.

She concluded by arguing that freedom must come with responsibility and that attempting to live independently without taking responsibility, in her view, reflects a “distorted mindset”.

Kangana’s statements sparked controversy. Many celebrities, including Sonu Sood, also condemned her statement. Since then, Kangana’s old party videos and bold movie clips went viral on social media. Reacting to these, Kangana said that it is wrong to compare characters played in films with real-life thoughts. She appealed to people to understand the difference between reel and real life.
